    Kibler smr double set trigger

Hello all. I’m nearly finished with my Southern Mountain Rifle. However, for some reason, I thought it would be a good idea to disassemble the double set trigger, to finish the trigger plate. I’m usually pretty good at taking pictures/marking how bolts and springs go whenever I take something...

    Finished My SMR Build

Looks great! As mine is coming together, I’m growing impatient. Have to remind myself to slow down

    After the Kibler Kits

I’m in the process of building my first Kibler kit. His Southern Mountain Rifle. It’s a smaller, more slender rifle than I’m used to, but I bought it knowing it’s a “squirrel” rifle. I’m 6’5”, 225lbs, so yeah this thing seems like a toothpick to me, but I still think it’ll be a lot of fun to...

    Gunsmithing screwdrivers

I like my set from Grace. I once broke a smaller one, contacted them and they sent me a new one pretty quickly. I also have a Brownells Magna tip driver that’s sold specifically for single actions.

Ramrod ends - Steel or Wood?

That’s what I thought. I have a good tip for my range rod. Otherwise I’ve heard of plenty of fellas using the blunt wood side of the rod in the field.

Ramrod ends - Steel or Wood?

Stupid question, I just got my Kibler kit. This tapered tip he supplied in the kit, is that used to seat the ball? My other rifle I have a concave brass tip, but I mainly use a range rod with a cleaning jag. That tapered tip seems nice for entering the rod thimbles, but seems awful small and...

Jim basically has two websites. Here is a link to the one that gives more detailed specifications. https://www.jimkibler.net/southern-mountain-rifle-kit-gun-specifications.html

Kibler SMR Jax Black, Brown, oxpho blue?

Morning…I’m looking for ideas (mainly pictures) of what you guys use/have used for metal finish. I have only done browning in the past, but on my soon to arrive Southern Mountain Rifle from Kibler, I wanted to go with more of a weathered gray/French gray look. But I also do like brown finish...

What "fun" targets are your fav's

I’m another one that loves saving my gallon milk jugs with water. I just let ‘em pile up outside, and if they freeze, they freeze. Steel plates are also a must. I have half a dozen of assorted sizes. But one other fun thing to try when you have some friends around, are soda bottles (half filled...

    Am I color blind?

I remember as a kid (before I drove), for the longest time, the yellow and green lights were opposite to me. I had to train myself to see what the correct color was.

    Knap Flints?

I’d like to know how to find material in my area (northern NJ). As in, what it looks like/what to look for.

    Am I color blind?

It’s kinda cool having a thread like this. I too have this Red/green deficiency. I haven’t hunted in 15-20 years, but yeah, I always had a hell of a time following blood trails. One or two times I’ve spent an hour or two, even searching early the following morning. Having one of those...

Black powder specific gunsmith in Northern NJ area

Thank you. I believe I have contacted him before. Unfortunately, with tight gun laws around here, he wasn’t able to look at a revolver. But I will keep him in mind for and long guns.
