What is the typical groove depth seen on conical paper patch barrels and what are the limitations on the bullets ability to obturate the bore? I have a .408 land, .427 groove rifle that shoots 289 grain bullets. I'm having trouble locating a hollow base bullet but a flat base is avaliable...

That DOES look awfully french. You see that trigger gaurd on French "T" rifled muskets and thier Belgian contracts.

Would this barrel be a good candidate for a recrown and reline of the bore? It's a barnett 2 band enfield from 1863. Don't know what to think of it at the moment.
