    TC Pennsylvania Hunter

Please forgive the breechloader reference. But to show an example, had a Remington 581S that was so light i got pulse bounce shooting off the bench! Made the crosshairs dance.

Remington #11 new production arrived ..maybe ...

Oh HAPPY DAY! I love the Remingtons! They don't split across the face like CCIs and RWS' do. Need to get me another thousand or so.

    TC Pennsylvania Hunter. AWESOME!

WHERE has this been all my life?! Picked up one 'tuther day for $400. The previous owner did some useful work.Bedded the tang, put on a Lyman frizzen and recut the crown. This one is the 32 inch 1-66 cut rifled. Although the trigger is rather heavy, a dab of moly grease on the sears, sear bar...

    Should I bed my barrel?

By all means do! If for no other reason, it keeps the fouling and wet out from under the stock line. Minimizes the need to dismount the barrel. And all the accompanying fun.

    TC Pennsylvania Hunter

Thanks all. This one has the trigger that the sear bar fits into. It definitely needs polishing! For some reason, this rifle is really fascinating to me. Had to place her in a category, but she handles well, balances proper and (so far) seems to really want to shoot. She really turned heads at...

    TC Pennsylvania Hunter

Bought one, in the nick of time, for $400. The bore was just starting to rust. Cleaned up without issue. The was some nastiness starting between the lock and barrel. Cleaned up well. The trigger is typically heavy, but usable for now. The crown was properly recut and loads nicely. The tang was...

    Just dont give up!

Vixen, my custom .50 caliber long rifle, has given me fits since I got her last August. I begged and pleaded with her to find the target. Went to the range today. My usual load, a Hornady .490 ball in an .018 Ox Yoke pre lubed patch, a pre lubed Ox Yoke .54 wad and 70 grains of 3f Swiss. None...

    FOR SALE Green Mountain .58

Hi All Its an UNFIRED 1985 production ( by the newspaper it is wrapped in)1 inch 32 inch 1-70 twist .58 percussion barrel. Comes with all the hardware, but does not have sights or rammer. I didn't even clean the factory gunk out of it. I was going to have TotW change the plug to flintlock, but...

    Muzzleloader phrases out of context

Ball puller. Nipple pick. Tompion. Had a fella at a reenactment look a bit confused, wondering why I used a tampon to stopper up my P53 Enfield

Why bead front sights on factory long range (300+yd) (40&45cal) rifles?

In his book " The Muzzleloading Caplock Rifle" Ned Roberts mentions bead sights quite often, and on target rifles for shooting WAY out there. I used to think a blade was the only way to go. But nearly all my rifles have bead sights, and apertures, of various sizes. I find no difference in my...

Youtube - Gun building videos being removed

Cage free idiots and free range morons. They pulled Idaholewis's videos too. What muzzleloaders have to do with their current phobias/ psychosis I'm sure I don't know. One day, the shoe will be on the other foot. I will sit and smile...

Range report: .54 Renegade with aperture sight

Mounted and cowitnessed the TC aperture sight ( thanks again Weewill) and hit the range. Didn't need to touch a thing as she hit 2 inches high at 50. I did have a couple derp shots... but my 3 round groups were all 1& 3/16ths! Huzzah! I CAN shoot a flintlock after all. The aperture sight helped...

    Two European Jæger Rifles

Absolutely. Its likely they have deep grooves too. Nice thing is they'll do quite nicely with lighter charges, for plinking and general gooferie. Go on capandball YouTube. He shoots regular and repop jaegers with impressive results.
