Thanks guys. I'm right-handed so the lefty wouldn't work for me. I looked at Mr. Selb's web site, but it looks like all of his "offerings" are sold.

    Some powder horns I made

No I'm not a member. I did these just to see if I could. I must have a "creative" gene in me. I have always liked making things. The big horn was a copy of one in Grancsay's book on powder horns. The ones a did for Addy Davis were also copies from this book.

    Some powder horns I made

I used to do a little horn making a long time ago. I did 2 or three Scrimshaw sets (main horn and priming horn) for Addy Davis when she had a shop over in Indiana. I sold a couple more but rifle making was more my kind of work.

    Trade axe?

Beautiful custom work on the tomahawks. Very Nice! The tomahawk head was marketed by Golden Age Arms some years ago, as has been already stated. They marketed it as being made from a head found at Ft. Defiance Ohio. Ft. Defiance was built by Mad Anthony Wayne in the early 1790's. So, the...

Which side to carry possible bag and powder horn

I have always carried my horn on the left side and the pouch on the right. Reason being I am right-handed and poring the powder from the horn into a powder measure, held in my right hand, is easy enough. With my right hand I can pore the charge down the barrel without spilling any powder. Also...

    Old Girl revisited

"Very nice! Why did you quit making rifles?" I guess LIFE caught up with me. I was single when I made this rifle. shortly after I got married and bought a house. I did make a few rifles after that, but I haven't done anything in many years. Now days my eyes aren't as good as they once were. I...

    Old Girl revisited

I haven't built any guns in many years. These pictures are of one I built for myself in the 1970's. I pulled her out of the safe recently and thought I'd post a couple pictures. She's a swamped barreled 50 caliber. The inlays, patchbox, side plate etc, etc. are all my own design and my own...

    How many here tried engraving?

If you can draw you can engrave. The pattern you start with has to be your guide. Below are a few pages from my pattern book. I would first draw the patch box or whatever inlay I wanted to use, to size, and then copy that to the rifle inlay. I did the same thing for carving patterns. I once...
