    Burning Patches

My patches are pillow ticking, look just like the one on the right except there is a hole where the ball sits in the middle.

    Burning Patches

Patches were not pre-lubed, shot a ton of rounds on Friday with varying patches, and thicknesses. Never really got it to settle down. All of the pillow ticking patches I recovered had a round spot missing out of the middle the size of the bore. One patch from a 60 grain load landed on the...

    Burning Patches

Yeah, it is 1/48 and I am using 60grs by volume. I will try a littel steel wool (0000) in the bore and give it another shot (pardon the pun) but I keep it very clean. The first patch was like new and the last three were BLACK, just can't figure it out. Thanks Ryan

    Burning Patches

After a little advice here last year I stuck with the bottle of lube I had (CVA Patch Lube about 10 yrs old) and bought me some pillow ticking. I can't remember off hand now weather it was .015 or .018. Last year I had my Bobcat shooting good at 50 yards (around 1.5"). This year I pull it...

CVA Bore Conditioner and Patch Lube

I just got done washing my pillow ticking and I am pretty excited about trying it out, after reading a few threads about reading patches it is now clear to me that any of the patches I have tried in the past have been too thin. I will start with the CVA stuff for now and report back. Thanks Ryan

CVA Bore Conditioner and Patch Lube

I have a bottle of this that I bought 10 years ago when I bought my Bobcat. Up till now I have used the 385 Great Plains. I now want to get down to using a PRB for hunting. I am going to get some pillow ticking today and have a pile of .490 RB's. Will this Bore conditioner/patch lube be...

That's what I will do in the future, but between now and Friday there just is not time. Ryan

    .50 Cal 385 Great Plains, 70Gr. RS

I think I need to work more with my patches with the round balls. I say every year that I am going to but I just never get around to it. I really like the Bobcat and I want more than ever to start using PRB's instead of the Hornady's. Thanks Ryan

    .50 Cal 385 Great Plains, 70Gr. RS

Will this be enough out to say 100 yards max? I have yet to get my CVA Bobcat to really work well with a PRB and out of frustration a few years ago I gave the Hornady GP Bullets a whirl. At the time I used the listed load that came with the bullets of 90Gr of RS. This load shot great and it...
