Help ID + Condition Please - Pedersoli Rifle

Looks some nice figure in the stock on that one. If I got or could get it cheap, I'd have to give a go at cleaning, scrubbing and polishing the bore and flash channel as described above.

To Bounce or not to Bounce

I don't bounce, unless I'm on a trampoline. But I remember my granddad doing it and he won a many shoots back in the 70's and 80's.

Uberti Santa Fe Hawken has arrived.

I wouldn't even try it on mine, it'd get stuck for sure. My barrel measures .533" groove to groove and a .520" ball with a .012" (measured compressed) patch is plenty snug. I've tried a .015" (compressed) patch, it would load on a clean bore but after the first shot with some fouling in the bore...

Uberti Santa Fe Hawken has arrived.

Very nice rifle indeed sir. I refinished mine last year and did some minor re-shaping on the lock panels and comb while at it. Didn't put any stain on it, just hand rubbed BC True Oil, it came out much lighter than the last walnut stock I re-finished but it's grown on me.

July 4 is National Sidewalk Egg Frying Day!

Hotter than blazes here but managed to fight through the sweat and squeeze off 5 hap-hazard shots at this months target while at our hunting property today... after the chores were done... ya know... when it's GOOD and hot. Nothing to brag about here fellas, a humble score of 9... but smoke was...

    Seneca Cherokee peep width

I have a TC tang peep sight, no idea of the model #, but the base measures .500" wide also. It was mounted on a Renegade and fit well.

Any Idea what the twist rate might be on this fine rifle?

T.C Hawken .50 cal with Green Mtn Barrel

70 grains of Swiss FFF is plenty for whitetail deer with a .50 cal round ball. As always, WHERE you hit them is more important than WHAT you hit them with.

    Tang Mount Sight-Protect Bluing ?

In the past I have used a thin piece of plastic such as old credit/debit card and cut a shim the shape of the sight base to go between it and the tang.

    My balls

I cast these yesterday with a .520" Callahan bag mold, pot and ladle. Straightened out the handles on the mold and tapped on a couple wood file handles to help with the heat but still, at about 40 balls cast it was getting pretty warm to the touch. Worked quite well.
