Not Familiar with the GPR as I've never had one...but from all the pics it appears to have 5 land and groove rifling with the grooves approaching twice the width of the lands.
That's a lot of groove area for the patch to fill and seal.
Do barrels like this benefit more from a smaller ball and...
Nice shooting Brits.
I've got to get me an OU muzzleoading shotgun.
I have nice SXS but there's just something about the sight picture that messes with my brain, I always shoot better with a single barrel or an OU.
I have these 2 wrenches, look like the same manufacturer but no idea who. They are different size between the flats, the turned down one being slightly smaller, it won't fit a rifle nipple, maybe for a revolver? Don't have any revolvers to check.
I would think a lower nipple would result in (very slightly) more impact force than a taller one, given the (very slightly) increase in stroke/momentum from the hammer.
As stated, addressing the spring is probably a better approach.
This is another ML accessory gifted to me from my Granddads cache.
He made it in the mid 70's - early 80's and it was left full of corrosive old Italian made percussion caps, so... it was corroded up pretty bad with the green funky stuff and the leather was broke down and flaky as well.
So I...
Great info n.h., thanks! I did test fit a couple on my rifle and they are indeed more of a snug fit than the garden variety #11's.
Duly noted on the corrosive.
$5 for a thousand... wow, them days are gone eh?
I was gifted some caps from my Dad this weekend that were part of my Granddads stash.
They are probably from the 80's or 90's sometime.
Got 7 full plastic "tins", hope they work, I'm gonna give them a try.
I was gifted some older Goex BP yesterday from my Dad that was apparently in with some stuff from my Granddad's belongings that he'd forgotten about.
Best as I can remember my Granddad was fairly active in muzzleloading well into the 1990's so this stuff could be from there about's or older I...
Some years ago I was using T7 and Pyro in a TC Renegade, It would frequently have hang fires.
I got a musket nipple for it and that solved the issue, latter I tried the RWS 1075 plus percussion caps and those worked perfectly with the substitutes as well.
Any good glue or bonding agent will be stronger than the thin walnut wood in the area of that crack.
The whole key to a quality repair will be in clamping/strapping it together with the crack seam perfectly matched together tight to minimize or near as possible eliminate the visibility of the...
