I was planning to solder on a front blade only from TOW.

Talked to Scott at Colerain today. He is making 7/8” barrels right now so he’s going to make mine shortly. Hopefully here by spring so I can get it together this summer.

A true trade gun isn't in the budget now so I want to put this barrel on my Traditions Kentucky. It will be a .54 smoothbore. I have a thread on the smoothbore forum about it. Kind of a poor mans Brown Bess!

As long as they reply even to email so I can actually put in the order I'm ok. Don't answer email or answer the phone, no matter how hard I try to will them to make a barrel it won't happen! lol

Email sent to FCI. Maybe I'll follow up with a phone call tomorrow. His Website says orders are 9-12 months wait would like to get my name in. I'm ok with waiitng the time as long as I know its coming.

Thanks. I'll just be patient and see if they reply to my messages. Want to get a smoothbore built. They said in the initial email that they have no problem shipping to Canada. They just ship it with no vent hole drilled and call it a "floor lamp Column"!

I'm keeping my Traditions 50 cal barrel and having colerain make me a 7/8" straight octagon .54 smoothbore to put on it as a switch barrel. going to have them make the barrel a few inches longer and turn those few inches past the nose cap round when it gets here. I thought I could go to 58 cal...

What is the size flat to flat? I can only go to .54 on my Traditions and it's a 7\8".

Well being a pensioner buying a trade rifle or even a kit isn't in the cards right now so I thought this might be a way get me a smoothbore on a budget. I think it will be a great rifle for small game! I'm hoping it fling a PRB pretty good to!

I could make it look something like this brown bess by extending the barrel past the nose cap. That portion would be octagon to round.

What about if I get the barrel about 3 inches longer than the stock barrel, turn the last 2" from octagon to round and install a TOW solder on fowler/fusil sight? Thoughts?

Colerain got back to me and they could do a .54 cal smoothbore "floor lamp Column" and ship it to me in Canada. I can drill and tap/install the flash hole vent liner here. What would be an appropriate front site for this? a bead?
