    Lethbridge Gun Show

$85 for a can of 2F Scheutzen. And the only BP I noticed. That's $66.55 when converted to U.S.

Is muzzle velocity affected by cap types? (Musket vs #11)

Hotter cap will light it off better but I'm thinking difference might not be all that significant, all other things being equal. Big advantage to the hotter cap might be more consistent ignition when it gets cold enough to freeze the balls off a brass monkey.

    T/C Trouble's

Dunno why this occurred to me; factory barrel? Can you determine the twist?

    My load development

A consistent routine should result in consistent results so I doubt fouling is building beyond a certain level. Personally, I use a spit patch to swab. When I first got started, advice given was to swab after loading. Doesn't make sense but it seemed to work. After a while I went to swabbing...

Lee .375 .36 cal Mold ,Looks like a Shadow Of A Casting Seam Every Now And Again ??

It would seem your mold isn't closing exactly every time. Might be you're occasionally not holding the handles tight enough. Speculating but maybe occasionally you get something between the blocks to prevent them closing properly that falls off when you drop the ball. Can't imagine what if...

Needing general help with my T/C

If you want to do the tape wrap, do the first couple upside down so you don't gum up the stock. Maybe a couple wraps of wire using the tape for protection. Maybe best to just set it aside for this year, get a good solid repair done.

Needing general help with my T/C

Old time army method to repair stock cracks is to use a brass screw and file the head off. If it works, you'd have everything original and intact. If you tried this, might be best to drill a pilot hole first.

    Blacken front sight with soot?

Easy and cheap is to twist masking tape into a "stick" and light it up. Was always pleased with the result, however it does rub off easily.

    Starting Out

Howdy from south Alberta. You're going to enjoy the game. My 2 bits is go with a .50. Lots of gun if you know your limitations and seems to be easiest caliber to find bits and bobs for. For your first, I'd suggest a percussion. Flintlocks are fun but can be frustrating. With the price of...

Pressure difference betwen Swiss and Goex

I've no great experience with shooting different manufacturers but grade of powder would be the decider on pressure to me. Different manufacturers can make their claims to performance. Unless the same ballistic lab carried out tests on different powders it's kind of comparing different kinds...

Got to love living in the country

Pro-Line in Calgary used to have pretty reliable supplies. All their BP was Goex. Haven't been there in a couple of years.

Oh boy! Another patch lube post.

There are a lot of recipes, concoctions, potions, products, secret formulas, etc. The most common point seems to be, no matter what you're using over applying is generally bad mojo. Give it a try. What I really care about is will it help me regrow my hair?

    Trip to The Rifle Shoppe

My lord! I'm guessing it's called a wall gun because you shoot through walls with it? Any bigger and it could be considered artillery.

    fire hazard?

Worst time of the year I experienced was spring. Grass dry, ground could be wet and trucks getting bogged easily. Get to do a lot of beating at that time of years. After a few years we got to using leaf blowers instead of brooms. You could almost run along and snuff it out. Get into a marsh...

    fire hazard?

I would suspect that a smoldering patch would be the hazard. Fast as BP flashes, any unburnt that made it out of the barrel would likely burn up in the air. Can't speak to substitutes. A spark can start up a grass fire so a smoldering patch could as well. Think char cloth.
