    Hello from East Tennessee

    Welcome from Greeneville.

    What projectile?

I fired the cannon yesterday with the 2" wood ball patched. It penetrated a 2x4 and broke it in half. Put a sizable dent on the concrete wall behind the 2x4. The wood ball only had powder burns on it and was otherwise not damaged.

    What projectile?

UPDATE I bought a cue ball that was supposed to be 2.25 inches. It wasn't. Actually measures 2.45inchs. Found some 2 inch wood balls. Should these be patched or just taped to the foil charge?

    Pieces needed

I would guess only one bucket. The one for grease had a locking top. The one for water had no top and was probably carried in the limber. Are you saying that the brush staffs are threaded? That sure would make things easier.

    'New Cannon'

Maybe this will help. As I said before buy the fuse first then measure and drill. Different brands of the same fuse will be different diameter. Visco green 3mm 3/32 23-24 seconds per foot. (pre cut) Visco red 3mm 3/32 9.5-10 seconds per foot. Visco green 3mm 30 seconds per foot. Visco red...

I want to shoot at targets. What projectile(s) could be used for a 2.25 rifled mountain howitzer?

Why not indeed. Let us know how they work. Good luck.

Never used the sugar fuse. Seems it would be to limp to push down the hole. If it doesn't the stiff stuff is real cheap.

    That thing

I don't see any hooks on my Napoleon. Could you post a picture please?

    That thing

Traditions Napoleon III. Whats that thing on the gold chain? A recoil stop maybe?

then drill Buy enough fuse to last a long time. Measure the diameter of the fuse and drill the hole accordingly.

    GOLF BALL CANNON

According to industry standards 1.5-2" diameter and 25-50" barrel length is 656-875 grains of black powder. HOWEVER: My personal opinion is that is way to much powder! Start with about 500 gr. and work up if necessary. Don't blow the gun up!
