Traditions Napoleon III. Whats that thing on the gold chain? A recoil stop maybe?

Placed under the wheel so it can't roll. Used on artillery and common for wagon brakes too.

I've got a question, while we're on the topic of Traditions Napoleons. There are two hooks on the main beam - one in front, another about half way back. I'm pretty sure the front one carries the bucket. What's the rear one for?

I don't see any hooks on my Napoleon. Could you post a picture please?

I believe the hooks on the "main beam" you are referring to carry the sponge and the rammer is carried on the other side. The bucket is suspended directly under the barrel. I have no idea how the Traditions is set up but I imagine it's a simplified model of the actual carriage.
