    Wheel weight lead question

It really depends on what gun and load you are shooting. I think it has all been described above.

Patch lube -- I know this will get a dozen ideas for each 6 responses, but...

'Bout 1:7 Ballistol and water, but that varies. Patches damp, not wet.

Tell me of your cleaning rituals

There is a difference between "shoot it again tomorrow" clean and spotless clean. I always enjoy when someone says they just run a few patches down and they are done in 5 minutes.

    Do I Clean Em ?

Why would anyone not clean and oil an antique firearm? You're not using rubbing compound and ScotchBrite pads, just some cloth and oil.

Asking for a friend... Rusty bore issue?

Rusty Bore was my NASCAR name.

    This is good!

    Ballistol

If that's true, I want to try it for that! Probably Bore Butter lol.

    Ballistol

I like Ballistol. Yes, it has an odor. Like every other product in this world, it has it's uses. No, it's not the best product for every job in the shooting industry, just like WD-40. It does make a good "Moose Milk" in the pourable-canned version and it works for soaking locks and other parts...

    Modify T/C Hawken Trigger Guard?

Has anyone here cut the big finger hook off the bottom rear of the TC trigger guard? Id like to see some pictures of that. Id like to take it off and round that area smooth, like it was never there. Dont know, I dont want to do something I might regret, But I dont like that hook.

    I've screwed up....

If you know someone at an auto repair shop or a tractor repair shop, see if you can use the air hose with full pressure. You just need to use a blowgun with a rubber tip. Remove the nipple and press the rubber tip into the threads. Point the muzzle in a safe direction and hit the lever full...

    Custom GPR stock?

Is there anyone who will make a custom stock for a Lyman Great Plains Rifle? I'd like to have one in maple or at least a better grade of walnut. If I could even get one roughed out and inletted, I can shape and finish it.

    Refinnish a GPR stock?

Slow and easy. Start with fine cut tools and gentle pressure. follow the lines like your life depends on it. Pay attention. Think twice, cut once. Once you put the stain on, its tough to get off. Use finer grit sandpaper at first til you get the hang of it. You need to have a way to hold the...

reclaiming lead from car and motorcycle batteries

It's easy enough to stay safe melting battery lead. Bottom line is it's just flat not worth it.

    Refinnish a GPR stock?

I like my stock fit the way it is. The only wood work I will be doing is to sand out or at least soften a few scratches and dings. Thats a good looking piece of walnut Phil. Thanks for the tip on the acetone. I have a bunch of it so we'll get out the rags and have a go at it.

    Refinnish a GPR stock?

I have an older Great Plains Rifle and the stock is plain walnut with a very dark finish. I'm used to stock refinnishing. If I sand the wood bare, will the color lighten some and show the grain more? I'd like to sand it down and finish with Tru Oil.

    Chainfires - the skinny? Maybe....

Yes, when I hear about chain-fire being caused by loose or missing nipples, I have to chuckle. This makes zero sense to me. Poorly sized or impropperly loaded projectile make a lot of sense.

    6-Shooter Velocities Drop?

Do the velocities normally drop in a C&B revolver from shot 1-6 due to fouling? Does greasing the chambers fix that?
