    Advice on getting started crafting.

    When it comes to crafting, the best advice given to me was, no matter how good it smells, never eat the Play-do. 🤔🤣🤣🤣

    repair parts/options early Navy Arms revolvers

    I have that same revolver. It’s a fun shooter. Mine was made in 1959-1960. If it is your intention to shoot it, I would do it. First pop some caps to see if the main spring is strong enough. :cool:

    Wooden Powder Flasks?

    I know this is an old thread. Several..many years ago, I made a pistol basically from scratch. The barrel and lock were purchased. The wood was from a walnut tree that had blown down. After finishing the pistol build, I made a flask out of the leftover walnut. I turned a brass top and...

    Percussion Firearm Safety & Hunting Tips;

    Relic’s post is very good advice. It is also my belief that the #1 safety is between one’s own ears. It has been engrained in me professionally for over thirty plus years to never rely on a mechanical safety in most if not all circumstances. Things do fail. I know of one individual who...

    Why are Uberti pistol boxes so flimsy?

    I have several of those S&W blue boxes… As for keeping boxes the guns came in, it makes it much easier for me to store. It’s easy to identify what is inside generally and select what you want. There is also the added layer of protection provided. No box, the item might get wrapped in an...

    It also looks like there is a crack in the stock between the lock screws. It doesn’t look too bad. I’m sure it can be easily fixed.

    Replacing gold inlay?

    I forget who made it, but there was a product that looked like a gold inlay. I think it was a powdered bronze. They also made on for a silver inlay. It went on kind of like nail polish. I used both the gold colored and silver colored products on a couple of guns. I used the gold for some...

    Carving antlers

    Craig, Hopefully everything will turn out alright with your surgery. Just left your body take it’s own time to heal. I had neck surgery about ten years ago. Very satisfied with it. Plus, I can tell you now when the weather is changing….:cool:

    1862 MOUSE KILLER percussion

    I would suggest tying a heavy string to the safety pin, then tie it off to the back of the cannon. That you won’t lose the pin. Also tie a string to the “fly” and secure that. Otherwise you will be looking all over for that thing. :cool:

    Dixie Gun Works 1862 Mouse Killer

    I would look in a Dixie catalog to see if they still carry them. I have seen them listed as a door alarm or burglar alarm also…a very long time ago. 5 or not quite 10 gr of FFFG and a tightly rolled up pice of newspaper, about 1/2” long and shoved down the barrel works wonders. Use your...
