A fine pair of Belgian Pistols

Beautiful ! What is the flat head screw for in the bottom of the barrel channel near the breach ?

    Brass screws

Don’t forget to drag the threads through some candle wax before you install them. It helps to prevent you from twisting them off. If the screw starts to bind or squeak, take it out and rub more wax on the threads.

Am I a Civil War Gun collector?

It’s a collection. Plain and simple. If you just collected “stuff”, it would still be your collection of stuff. Don’t get hung up on hair splitting. Enjoy what you like and what you have.

    T/C Patriot

I have two Patriots. Both are beautiful and shoot better than I can. A caution about the stock, don’t over tighten the lock screw. Just snug it up. That is a large contributor to cracked stocks. When loading, never let the butt come in contact with a hard surface. If you are resting the...

Did I overpay for this Colt Signature Series?

Wiscoaster, I have three Signature Series Colt revolvers, and others. One is the 1849 Pocket. It’s beautiful. The next is the 1861 Navy with powder flask etc. Its a real beauty. On those two revolvers, the fit and finish is excellent. The third revolver is the Paterson with the loading...

You guys may know what this is.

I agree with Dale on the square tube. I does look like a type of repeater. One term I have heard a long time ago was “harmonica gun”. This could some form of that. Regardless, interesting and beautiful.

Do you aim or point and shoot instinctively?

For me, except from shooting from retention, it’s always Front Sight to Fight. You cannot ignore or overlook proper grip, sight alignment and sight picture. The round will hit where the sights are pointed. The mechanics of shooting never change if you want to be accurate. Speed comes with...

    Ramrod tip removal

If have to shorten the rod more than the length of the tip, just cut the tip off. You can either drill out the wood left in the tip or burn it out. Refit the tip and pin it, maybe use a dab of epoxy too. The heat gun might help too.

    Wall mounted rifle display

None of mine are on display, you can’t see them. So, I guess they are effectively “Ghost Guns”.

My first kit build, traditions Kentucky pistol!

Good save on the trigger guard. It does look like you might have the front sight on backwards. :thumb:

    Pistol Ramrod

I have the TC Patriot version. I made a short (long enough for loading) starter for mine. The rod is Delrin, the knob is maple with a brass stub. I also use it for cleaning. No worries and especially no sore hands. :thumb:

    Yet Another Colt ...

Griff, I do love those yellow Labs. Had one for years. If you ever wake up in the middle of the night, busting out in a cold sweat from a bad case of buyer‘s remorse, I just want you to know, I’m here for you. I do have a Signature Series Paterson. It’s a thing of beauty...
