Do you think that modern ML firearms have any investment value?

Condition - Condition - Condition. A used and abused firearm, be it centerfire or ML, is a depreciating asset. Shoot them and enjoy them, just don't always think that you will make money on them. In my lifetime I have made money and lost money on firearms; but I have always enjoyed shooting them.

Traditional Pennsylvania hunt in the late season - anyone?

Late Season Muzzleloader (Flintlock Only / Traditional) is always a hard season to hunt. First it comes at the end of all the other deer seasons, so you may not have an unfilled tag by then. Between Archery, Early Muzzleloader & Gun seasons, I am usually tagged out. Second, the late time of...

    Gunmakers Fair At Kempton

Show report - Found some nice flints, no bargains but a fair price. Saw some friends, visited and talked. Horner's finished horns were down in numbers. I guess they sold lots before this show with the Fort Fred, Fort Loudon and Candy Carboard now Carlisle shows all before this one. Saw some very...

BEST CALIBER TO HUNT DEER W/ FLINTLOCK RIFLE

Options, .45, .50, .54, .58, and .62. I would throw out .45 and .62 out of the mix; .45 for me although legal it is kind of light and the .62 because of the ball options (not a standard caliber available in most box stores). I really like the .50, ,54, and .58, you can get factory (Hornady and...

Bess vs charley, what’s your favorite

Let's clarify who used what. The American Colonies used both the Brown Bess, and Committee of Safety knockoffs, and once French Assistance started flowing Charlevilles, Model 1763/66, started to reach George Washington's troops. And on the British side the Royal army and here Loyalist forces...

    Best value smoothbore

Two barrel option is intriguing to me. Smooth bore rifle, is going to give you a heavier muzzleloader (barrel wall thickness) Let's see what Jim's next project is. Maybe he will offer a Woodsrunner with a smooth bore option?

Chokes or no Chokes for Turkey Hunting

Dedicated turkey fowler - jugged choke. Flexibility - shot and round ball cylinder. All depends on how you want to use your hunting tools in my mind.

    2F or 3F suggestions

2F vs 3F,, interesting comments. Me 2F in BPCRs and in-lines, 2F or 3F in muzzleloaders. These days it depends what I can find, with every new purchase I really need to go back and recalibrate my load. Thinking on changing from volumetric measuring to weight scale. Always try to primer from a...
