Recommended revolver parts to upgrade or have as spares?

taylors is the best for replacement parts. better if you talk to someone on the phone though. I have accidently ordered Uberti parts for my Pietta and they are not interchangeable. last time I called and the person on the phone was very helpfull and I got the right parts.

Personal Care Lubricant for Muzzleloaders-What do you think?

Quite the fitting thread for a site that won't even allow us the occasional creative swear word yet now features smutty pop up adds. Just now it tried to get me to click on Sara Palin bikini photos.

Pietta 1858 New Army revolver and conical sizing

the larger 220g lee mold in .457? did not even begin to have a chance of fitting in my 1858 cylinder. the 200g .450 seems to work well.

Pietta 1858 New Army revolver and conical sizing

hope the 200g lee works well for you. seems fine to me. I lubed them with lyman black powder bullet lube and no issues with chain fire or backing out of the chamber. I use 25g T7 3f I think the folks complaining of this bullet backing out are using max loads?

    Brass frame revolvers

would not make any difference but yes its FFF it is a not a monster load. pleanty of folks regularly stuff 38g of this stuff into a steel frame with no problems. I am useing that same powder spout now with 200g conicals in my steel frame and it does not feel excessive in any way shape or form.

Pietta 1858 New Army revolver and conical sizing

thats what I thought but the lee loaded easy and did not cause any problems being loose. does Not shave any lead but does shave a wax ring after I lubed them. shot perfectly. I did put on a new front sight and then files that down gradually to get the proper elevation.

    Conicals for revolvers

I have only lubed about 400 so not an expert. I used Lyman black powder bullet lube from track of the wolf and lubed by hand. Might try melting and dipping next?

Newbie Looking for Advice on Failed Ignition of Main Charge

I have had very mixed luck pulling balls and watched other folks fail as well. often the threads strip out of the soft lead and the ball is still in there.

    Conicals for revolvers

just shot my biathlon course. 9 targets. four of them are 5 inch steel. five of them six inch steel ranges from 20yrds to 40 yrds with just two shots on 5" steel circles at 20 yards but its in dark woods and not a give away. Two 5" steel @25 yrds and five 6" steel at 40 yrds. Shot it with the...

    Conicals for revolvers

I feel its less wear and tear on the gun to load on the bench. also easier and faster for me but then again I shoot an 1858. If I was buying paper cartridges that would be different. I usually have two cylinders loaded up anyways. also i load on my kitchen table and just step outside to...

    Brass frame revolvers

it did not take any effort at all to shoot this thing loose. I did not keep an accurate count of how many shot. I suspect somewhere between 1 and 2k rnds? brand new 2021 pietta w/ 12 " bbl. I only shot one cylinder of 30g with RB and decided that was too hot. The rest were 25g T7. It seems...

    Conicals for revolvers

I just don't like it when folks who have never actually had a chain fire start preaching about what will or wont cause or prevent one. They are just running their traps if they have never deliberately caused a chain fire and then tested the remedy to stop it. People dont know how to listen and...
