Pedersoli Kuchenreuter pistol review w/ Match tuning

looks really nice. . as always very impressive shooting. I have the .44 Le Page and not happy with how the lock is tuned. If I set the trigger with no creep its way too light and I get unintentional drops. If I set it so that it won't fire by tapping the side of the pistol with my hand it has...

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

I got the elevation figured out for the lee 200g. Its not that good free hand but starting to get reasonable. still a lot of getting used to how much front sight to show. this is 5 shots at 25hrds benched

I have to rethink the spare cylinder idea

pretty well documented that the irregular troops carried a bunch of revolvers. I would think that experienced regular troops would have done the same. Noobies with up tight spit and polish officers likly only had as issued kit. that would change with experience..

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

that's a pretty good list up thread. Cant' Imagin M855 coming in with 5 different bullet weights.. Makes me wonder if there possibly were not many actual good pistol shots in that army. Also may explain why some cavalrymen preferred loose powder and RB for their revolvers.

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

If you were a reall shooter back in the day you would have to buy the same paper cartridge brand every time as the wild range of different loads would not be ideal for any kind of consistant accuracy. It must have sucked if you were issued different ammo all the time.

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

with a 200g conical that is a bit light to be historically accurate but I feel pretty good about it. its a conical and pretty close to what would have been used.

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

just answered my own question.. Union Army ordnance manuals of 1861 specify a load of 30 grs of powder with a .46-caliber, 216 gr. conical ball in Colt M1860 revolvers. The same manual specifies a .39-caliber conical bullet of 145 grs., over 17 grs. of powder. An official Confederate States...

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

so far I have not had any troubble with them backing out. I was disappointed that I wasted money on the .457 mold, I had allready ordered the .450 mold when I read about your experience with it. Then I found the link to the Kerr mold and wanted to order that but had allready ordered the Lee .450...

How to cut grease notches in a ‘58 Remington cylinder pin?

if you have it dialed and shoot it sparingly it will last you a long time. I have a back yard range and shoot almost every day, Brasser was not a good choice for me.

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

I use soft lead. The label on my mold is 450-200-1R so perhaps it is the Real? it does exactly what you said in my pietta cylinders. first ring fits in the cylinder and the 2nd ring straightens it out. I checked and it does load fine in the revolver but I usually load on the bench with my...

    Lee conicals for .44 revolvers

I recently bought the 220g .457 lee mold and found it impossible to load without completly mashing the bullet into the cylinder with a mallet on the bench. hard to get them straight but I essentually swaged them into the cylinder. completely mashed. even if it started crooked as heck I hammered...

How to cut grease notches in a ‘58 Remington cylinder pin?

my steel 58 is nice and tight and runs all day with T7. My brass 58 is as loose as a tic tock girl and gets stiff after two cylinders. My take is that the loose brasser lets the gasses get in there while the tight steel rig is not letting much gas in there.
