    3F,2F,1-1/2F charge size

I’ve found 50 grains of Swiss. 2F works in my Sharps carbine. With powder availability I now have to use Swiss 1.5 or 3F . In your experience would the load size stay the same or should I change it for the different grades of powder fineness. I’m trying to save myself some experimentation.

    Changing 12 ga barrels?

Hickock45 has a video on YouTube called “mail order sawed off shotgun” where he does it with a Ped howdah & a 20 ga shotgun . I called one dealer but I’m still thinking it’s doable. I’ll check with a gunsmith that works with these things. I imagined someone here has done it.

    Changing 12 ga barrels?

I have a Pedersoli percussion 12 ga Coach gun with double triggers. https://www.dixiegunworks.com/index/page/product/product_id/8617/category/316/category_chain/312,313,316/product_name/PS0914+COACH+GUN+--+12+GAUGE+20%22+BBRL I was wondering if it’s possible to get a longer barrel that can be...

Trouble see front sight on Kibler SMR

I saw that suggestion (Of using the tape with hole) in one of the video reviews of the commercial product .

Trouble see front sight on Kibler SMR

I did not use gunsight specific paint but rather a white epoxy on the face of the front blade on a Sharps carbine. The problem I have is that the range has a roof over the shooter’s station which shades the sight and still makes it difficult to see . I did not want fluorescent green or orange...

Trouble see front sight on Kibler SMR

The fact that it works for you is all that matters . The adjustability is a real plus from what I gather .

    1st chain fire

Actually I don’t have a clue .. I was just commenting on my surprise at hearing/seeing such numbers from a couple experienced folks. I’m used to thinking about compressed air cylinders with 3000-4500 psi and these numbers even the 9000 were a shock .

    1st chain fire

FYI…Zonie in a thread “PSI with black powder” Agrees with the higher number…and higher actually … https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/psi-with-black-powder.29260/

    1858 Remington

I had the opposite problem. You might try an Uberti spring. In an Uberti Remington 1858 It took 2 strikes on any caps besides Remington 10s which were in short supply and even for those I had to screw the spring tension screw in really far. The hammer was falling properly and not hitting the...

Fired off an E-mail to Pedersoli......

I’ve contacted him ,nice fellow but he didn’t have any parts. IFG similarly seemed nice enough but I have not yet received a part I reported & they agreed was bad last year. I have found their quality control to be hit or miss and there follow up to be poor …for whatever reason. You better be...

    1st chain fire

I was amazed to hear , I’m not sure how accurate this is, from Blackie Thomas on YouTube that percussion revolvers develop about 20K psi for an instant in the chamber. He added that if the nipple hole gets much larger than a paper clip it needs replacing . I have quite a variety of sizes from a...

    Open tops are just sexy

I like loading a Remington off the gun with a powderinc cylinder loader but was thinking the stand that holds the revolver upright might be better for a Colt. It sounds like you are comfortable using either type gun with a cylinder loader . Thanks

I saw them . Did they come with the tool for putting them on and are they reusable ?

    1st chain fire

Off topic …but I saw this post here , I think under “Flying Nipple”…. Regarding power at the nipple end from firing a percussion gun… “The last shoot I was at, my friend was bench shooting, then all the sudden! His nipple blew out of the drum with such force, it broke his lock, and grazed the...
