WITHDRAWN Reduced .50 Southern Mountain Rifle

It’s actually the trigger that determines this. Single lever vs double lever. The only issue in the lock would be if the fly was present. This lock originally had a fly, unless it was lost on disassembly. The fly prevents the trigger lever from catching the half cock notch on its way down when...

    SOLD Flintlock for Sale

Just need a bit more info. That’s a desirable rifle with a ton of potential. Just a few more details and I bet it sells quick. Maybe close this thread and start a new one with some updates. The wood looks to be cherry to me.

In looking at it the flats look smaller than 15/16 but it could be the camera angle. If that’s the case it will be a .32.

100% a Dixie. Great rifle that should shoot lights out. Measure the bore best you can. Likely .50 or .54 caliber and probably 15/16 across the flat but there were some 7/8” barrels.

    McHugh rifle pics.

The engraving is outrageously well done. I’d like to watch how he does the scallops. Great rifle. Thanks for posting pics.

    Jack Garner Signed Flinter

My dad has shot a lot of Kentucky whitetails with a .40. He says it’s the .270 of the blackpowder world and has been really effective. Shot placement is paramount but that’s the case with every caliber. I believe he shoots 70 grains so you’ll need to pay attention to your patches and make sure...

Dad built this swivel barrel in the 70's

Definitely a keeper. Not many swivels floating around.
