Need help with ID and value please - Caucasion rifle?

Thank you. The hole was not drilled for the mounting on this board and appears to be quite old. Well, I am not going to retire on the value, but at least I can tell my wife it is worth considerably more than I paid for it.

Need help with ID and value please - Caucasion rifle?

I posted this to the flintlocks thread and it was recommended that I post it here with additional pictures to get more information. Member Rick (rickystl) provided this information: Anyway, your rifle is Caucasian. Possibly made in Dagestan or one of the other gun making centers in the region...

    My first flintlock

Rick, Thank you very much for the comprehensive identification and history. I very much appreciate it. What should I focus the additional picture on for posting in the other forum section? I really don't want to remove it from the mounting if I can avoid it, but will do what I have to to...

    My first flintlock

Have any of you ever used one of the online antique gun appraisal services? If so, how was the experience? Seems most of them charge around $25 a gun, which I am willing to pay if I can get some more details on age, origin, and value. Thanks.

    Hello from Northern California

I have been collecting Coleman (and others) for about 15 years. Nice to have a hobby that has a practical use. This picture was taken about 10 years ago. Needless to say, I have a lot of pieces these days.

    Hello from Northern California

Thank you for the welcome, folks. Much appreciated. I always like to learn, but I am a bit surprised that my post in the Flintlock Rifle forum area has not yielded any tangible responses. I would love to know the origin and approximate date of my piece. Regardless, I am sure I will learn much here.

    My first flintlock

A little more info. I was told that it is a .69 caliber (I think) and it has straight rifing in the barrel. It is 62" long tip to tail.

    My first flintlock

I recently purchased this from a friend who was moving. He inherited it from a friend and knew little about it, although he did have a local gunsmith look at it who guesstimated the date about 1800. I subsequently have been told that it not US made, possibly Arabic. The lock was called a "crude...

    Hello from Northern California

My name is Scott and I know virtually nothing about the muzzleloading experience. I am an avid collector of old gas pressure appliances such as Coleman lanterns and lamps and have been a member of a forum on that topic for many years. The collective knowledge of the forum members has greatly...
