    Rubbing magnesium on frizzen ?

Don't confuse titanium with ferrocerium which is what the socalled fire steel rods are made from.

    Rubbing magnesium on frizzen ?

    Magnesium does not spark.

    Rubbing magnesium on frizzen ?

Sounds like hog wash to me. Magnesium shavings will burn, however the bar used to make the sparks is made of ferrocerium and it doesn't rub off.

    How many years Muzzleloading experience?

53 years. Started with a 58 Zouave, then a TC Hawken. There was a mid-life period during which I concentrated on handguns and about 20 years ago started building my own Muzzle loaders.

    Staining walnut

A friend is working on an Investarms Hawken kit. It has a fairly light colored walnut stock. I've only worked with curly maple and aqua fortis. Any suggestions on staining the walnut would be appreciated.

    Cutting large chunks of lead

I used a chainsaw. Cut it up into pot sized chucks, then cleaned up and melted the shavings. Worked great and fast too.

    Identify this colt pistol?

Yes, it was carried in pommel holsters - because it tended to pull one pants down. Actually to kill angry Mexicans. Interestingly, Sam Walker was killed by a lance before the guns arrived.

    Identify this colt pistol?

Rumor has it the Walker was the most powerful handgun until the .357 Magnum. But there is a good reason why it was classified as a "Horse Pistol".

Competitive shooters, a moment of your time please.

How's your trigger? Excessive creep can cause problems.

    Raised dovetails

I tried it once on a rear sight. I didn't like the results and went back to filing. I suppose it would be OK on under lugs.

Holster question. Forward or rearward facing butt?

And if hunting this will prevent accidental dings in the buttstock of your long gun.
