Screwdriver for Siler lock top jaw screw

It has probably been 30 years or more since I bought a screw driver. Unfortunately you are probably right, it is pretty much impossible to find quality tools locally. The ones I inherited from my dad when he passed 20 some years back are usually my go to ones, They are really old but really...

    Kibler Brown Bess?

It would appear Mr. Kibler is trying to do some market research to find out if it is worth his time and money to offer this product. When he purchases expensive machines I'm sure he wants them running near capacity otherwise he isn't going to be in business for long. In my other hobby over the...

    Kibler Brown Bess?

How could the pole have been skewed by people who said NO? The question was would you be interested in purchasing one if it was offered.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

No sale here. Have no interest in a smooth bore, I like rifles. I sometimes think I am the only person in the world who doesn't have something they want Jim Kibler to make. If I want a particular style I make it myself. Currently working on a J Henry and Sons Lancaster pattern trade rifle that I...

    Weight sorting cast lead balls.

I started shooting competition back in the 70's and I have never weighed a ball. I cast all my balls using single cavity molds which eliminates the possibilities of having different size cavities which can happen with multiple cavity molds. Each ball is visually inspected when cast. If it has a...

    ID Chunk/Target Percussion

What is the weight on it? Looks more like a Light Bench or Cross Stick rifle if it is under 14 lbs. That deep crescent butt plate is probably gonna hurt though. Without the false muzzle and the crack through the wrist probably time to retire this one.

    SOLD Miroku Flintlock

This looks like a lock I recently used to resurrect an old CVA Colonial pistol kit that the lock had been screwed up on. It fit the lock inlet perfect just had to take some wood out inside to accommodate the bridle. Actually has a posted bridle. The coating on it feels like 400 grit sandpaper...

Has anyone ever built a Pecatonica River long rifle kit

Pecatonica is more a collection of parts rather than a kit. There is a lot of work left to be done. I have used a number of their stocks over the years and have always felt like I got better wood than I paid for. Some will caution you to NOT get the lock inlet done. Personally I have never...

    Bore brushing.

Spent a good deal of time working on an Investarms Flintlock Hawken yesterday. It had a load in it that he couldn't get to go off and he couldn't get the ball out. Easily got the ball out. The problem was the flash channel in the breech was packed solid with brass bristles from a bore brush and...

I am an idiot. Frustrated to the point of wanting to quit.

Spent most of the day working on the rifle. Started with the remainder of the touch hole liner. It came out no problem and the threads are in good shape so ordered a new liner for it. Tried to use air to get the ball out. No air going through the barrel so no hole through the ball but it wasn't...

    .54 for Target?

I was primarily a competition shooter before injuries sidelined me. I would not hazard how many shots I fired each year. I shot somewhere every weekend plus practiced a couple times each week . When I built my .54 light bench & cross stick rifle I also built a .54 flintlock for offhand and...

I am an idiot. Frustrated to the point of wanting to quit.

The OP brought the rifle by my shop Monday evening. I let it sit in PB Blaster yesterday. He was correct air would not move that ball. Time to get Ye Olde Ball Puller out and it did its thing. The remains of the touch hole liner came right out so just need to get a new line the threads are good...

    Bore brushing.

You have shooters who say they always use a bore brush. Then at an average of at least one per week there is someone wanting to know how to get a bore brush that is stuck in their barrel out. probably best not to use one. If you are using a patched round ball how are you going to get lead in the...
