What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Last evening at the gun club hot dog roast I showed off the Kibler Fowler. Even in the box, people were saying it looked great. However, the modern shotgunning folks who consistently razz me about my Black Powder ways were not there. Well, they missed out on Chicago-style hot dog fixin's as well...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

THE Box arrived at my post office yesterday, which did not do me any good, since the place was closed for the holiday. However, this morning, I went up and picked up the long, long box. Had some fun getting it into the car. (had to put down a seat to fit). Just went back out and opened up the...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Not what did I do, but what I got. The e-mail that the Fowler I ordered is being shipped today. Now I just need to be patient, like the people trying to get Ketchup out of the Heinz bottle. 😅 "Anticipation" (You know you just sang that word!) The Doc is out now.

Help identifying flint lock pistol no markings

Less than $50.00 as a decoration, maybe. That is the HIGH end. It's not a real gun. The Doc is out now. 😎

Seeking Opinions on a Recent Kibler SMR Purchase Experience

Understood Second Rate. Though I would also argue with you that being a hubby and father to four kids makes you a First-Rate if you are doing it right, which it sounds like you are. :thumb: The doc is out now. 😎

Seeking Opinions on a Recent Kibler SMR Purchase Experience

I know this is a little off topic, but I question why you did not just build an SMR yourself? I say this because I am not a woodworker, not a metal worker, generally a klutz with tools and only seem to be skilled with words. However, I built one which is being used by Mr. Kibler on his website...

Kibler fowler - Has anyone shot round ball?

I have a friend who has a smoothbore that was MEANT for shooting round balls. It is not a fowler. He practices and has done remarkably well with his gun. The main point here is that 1) the gun is shot with what it was meant to shoot and 2) he practices. Mr. Kibler (and I respectfully say this...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Went out with the Woodsrunner to shoot target #2 of the NMLRA Postal Shoot. As usual, didn't do so hot. I think I will have to move to a bigger ball with the patches I have. Was using a .530 ball and .015 patches. I have some .535's which I will be pulling out to try again and see if I can do...

That was Monday. Any news? The Doc is out now. 😎

    Help with a derringer

It is a screw barrel. Those four slots are not rifling, they are for a special key tool that is/was used to unscrew the barrel. Once that is done, powder is filled in the little chamber in the action. A soft lead ball is placed on top that fits in the barrel. However, it will not fit down the...

I had a great day today

Well, at one time, Ohio WAS the western frontier of our nation! 😅 The Doc is out now. 🤪

    Hello from Hellinois

You didn't drink it warm, did you? You can't do that with Stag! It's got to be COLD! 😅 The Doc is out now, (waiting on his Stag to get cold!)

    Hello from Hellinois

Jist git yo pie-hole open cause weez abouts ta cram it full a knoll-ledge! 🤪 Just kidding. This is a pretty good place to be if you have questions. A lot of the answers can also be found in the pinned comments at the start of most sections. I'm over here in Wild Western Illinannoy, where we...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Unpacked my T-O-t-W order of Skychief load materials (wads and cards) and a round ball mold I ordered in anticipation of the Kibler Fowler I ordered being shipped out in the not too distant future. The Doc is out and like the old Heinz Ketchup ad, in ANTICIPATION! 😅

Would somebody be so kind as to help me identify this Flintlock?

Why does it look like there are rivets on the top of the barrel holding the engraving down? Also, what is up with the screw for the hammer jaw?

    Smooth bore metal finish

Ah, but I have tried looking into that, seeing as how will say that "Google is your friend". However, I was coming up short for online answers which is why I posted here. Alas, the library in my small town does not have some of the books that I could probably find in bigger, better stocked...

    Kibler Fowler Arrived!

Geez, this post got me looking. I thought I placed an order in June. It was at the end of May. Yowza! 20 gauge in Walnut. The Doc is out now.

    Smooth bore metal finish

Question for those who might know, though you might have to be a bit old to really know. What metal finish did the Flintlock Fowlers have? Blued, French blue, In the White or browned? I have one of the Kibler Fowlers on order, and was thinking of leaving it in the white, but I would rather be...

    Kibler Brown Bess?

The Brown Bess has been done already. I'd rather see (but probably won't live to see it) an American pattern gun. I do know this. If Jim made it, it would be accurate, and function much better than the original. The Doc is out now.

    B grade Kiblers

Is there really such a thing as a "B"-grade Kibler gun? I don't think it is possible. ;) Good looking gun, btw. The Doc is out now.
