What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I didn't do a thing, but I passively picked up the targets for the NMLRA Postal Shoot from the post office today. Now, if only I can actually not wait until the very last minute to shoot these! :p The Doc is a terrible procrastinator, and out now.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

That lock is from a group of imported guns from Stoeger from the 1950's to 60's. If I recall correctly, they were Belgian in origin. You can google images of the guns. The Doc is out now.

I have mine tuned to B-sharp. The Doc is out now.

    Kibler side effect?

I have built two Kibler guns. On the first, a Southern Mountain, I put a minimum of carving decoration on the cheek-piece. On the second, a Woodsrunner, I carved a maple leaf, a snake on the patchbox, a lily, two lines along the stock, and two scroll-y things on the cheek-piece side. I would not...

    Kibler’s new Gun.?.

It will be out about the time it comes out. In the meantime, it's best to just sit back and wait. Jim and Katherine announced last week that they both came down hard with the flu and that has set the shop back a smidge. I know how I feel when I am sick, so I imagine that they are not feeling the...

    Armi San Marcos

I had an ASM that needed so much work that I left it with the gunsmith as the repairs exceeded the price of the gun. The mainspring would break, the hand spring would break, the spare parts never worked and the grip was bent making the gun looked like it was used as a hammer. I had bought it...

    New member from Wisconsin

Wisconsin? Good beer and brats? Yeah, I feel sorry for you up there. Whereas down here in Illinois we have the Bears, Cubs, White Sox and Bulls and all the governors that prisons can handle. 🤣 The Doc, a UW-Platteville grad, and former police officer from the Badger State, is out now. 😎

    Failure :’(

I think that the people who say it is too short are probably those who say it is short because it is cold out, or who get laughed and pointed at by women if their swim trunks fall off. A REAL man would have that rod lengthened! 😂😆😅 🤣 Sarcasm at no cost to you and the Doc is out now 😎

Frustrated - Hopefully just the growing pains of a newbie

Okay, first, your cleaning jag cannot be the same size as the bore size or you will do just what you did. Second. Never run a dry patch down a fouled barrel. Third. Find the Duelist1854 video on YouTube about how to smooth out a new barrel with scotchbright-type pads. Fourth. Make some...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Put the taller Kibler rear sight that arrived today on my Woodsrunner. That's about it though. The Doc is out now.

    Rattlesnake patchbox rifles

Hmmm, something new for me. I had no idea something like that existed. And I am older than that snake on the rifle since it does not have that many rattles on its tail! ;) The Doc is out now.

    Kibler?

I've never had any problem by communicating with them by e-mail, or sometimes by phone when they are having their working hours. I've always found them to be very pleasant to communicate with either way. The Doc is out now.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Ordered the taller rear sight for the Woodsrunner, and otherwise froze my butt (but not off, unfortunately - I need to lose weight). The Doc is out and cold now.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Okay. That got me curious and I went looking to see if anybody responded that were aggravated. I did not see any responses that indicated the bejeezus was aggravated out of anybody. You sure you did that? The Doc is mildly curious now but not so much that you have to answer C.N.

Ready to do my Kibler lock.

Don't sand the back of the frizzen that the flint strikes. Otherwise, have fun. The Doc is out now.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Helped friend who never shot a muzzle loading gun before learn how to load and shoot a gun he was evaluating for purchase. The gun shot pretty well, too, but did have some issues. The bore was really rough. I wonder if it was properly cleaned (if at all) the last time it was shot. Nice to have...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Not today, but yesterday. I went to the range to unload the Woodsrunner from hunting season. I had grabbed a jar of Olde Eynsford powder off the shelf to load the gun, topped with some corn meal, and patched ball. I had a little hang fire, but this did not cause me any notice as the gun had been...

Check out Track of the Wolf or Dixie Gun Works for something that looks similar. You might have to file it into shape or cut the wood to match. The Doc is out now. 😎

Hunting accident in CT with a musket?

In this day and age it sounds perfectly normal. Bet the pellet was from a shotgun or otherwise we would be seeing something akin to murder charges. The Doc is out now. 😎
