What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

The rack that it hangs on , it's upside down the trigger guard is up, so right where the end of the barrel is right where the end of the barrel in the lock is is the lowest point,
I've considered changing the rack that it hangs on there's two pegs one of them fits on the cheek rest and the other is about halfway up the length of the barrel if I was to change this rifle rack so that one of the pigs is right where the trigger is and the one where the muzzle is is about a half inch or an inch lower it would allow any oil to run away from the firin nipple

put new nipples in my 58 last night that i got from Deer Creekk Products. Then took the 58 Remington out to
my range and burned some powder. Still getting the hang of revolver shooting. Also filled my 3f horn with the last of my Goex. Still have 2 cans of Grafs 3f. May have to make a run to Mezico Missouri before long.

After all the fridged temps followed by a lot of rain, I finally out and burned some powder.

Pinned the barrel and refined the trigger. As I have mentioned before, this sideslapper/mule ear lock requires a backwards motion to trip the sear so it took me a couple of tries to arrive at the best method (that I could achieve with the constants I have).

Next, a trigger plate and the tang bolt. Wish me luck!

Weathered the storm last night. The shrieking wind was the worst part. Family and house are all well. A bit of green debris tidying up to do; man, I hope the range is open this weekend .

Got an order in today from Track of the Wolf.
Got a Creedmoor loading/cleaning rod, some jags and patches, and a couple nipples. and a nipple wrench.

Just getting started in this hobby and everybody seems to love the Creedmoor rods for range loading, so we'll see.

I worked on regulating the CVA double 50 today. found both barrels like 90g of swiss fffg under the 250g REAL. took 10 shots each barrel to make me satisfied that it was the best i was going to get. 3 inch group at 65 yards. dirty job but someone had to do it!
once that was settled i filed a second notch to the right of the factory notch in the rear sight. by using that notch for the left barrel it prints both barrels to the same POA. another 10 shots from each barrel and i was grinning like a teenage boy on Sunday morning. what a pleasant gun to shoot.
after cleaning, i crowned both muzzles so tomorrow will be interesting to see how that impacts the accuracy.
too lazy to walk out and photo the target tonight.

Ordered Kibler kit #4. Really debated which one, especially with the new kits that showed up today on the site. In the end I went with #1736. Put another coat of finish on the current one I'm working on. So far so good.

Tried to fit the new taller rear sight to the Woodsrunner. Didn't do so well and it was loose. I have another to try but thought I'd blacken it first just to try the Jax. Luckily I have a spare rear sight to work on. I'm not too good at this so I may go thru a few.
I wanted to file from the front end because the rear has a nice sharp "foot" that looks like it fits into the rear of the dovetail to lock in place.
Maybe the front of this sight is just a butt fit cause it doesn't seem to have a foot. Seems more like a bullnose.
IF I stop short, how much is too tight ?

I attended my clubs' annual awards banquet and fundraising auction last night. Lots of good fun and fellowship!

I didn't win much for my shooting, but I did take home the best shoot award! We shoot at different locations in middle Tennessee and the membership votes on the best shoot of the year. I feel honored to receive this award.

While I prefer to use sheet copper, a loose fitting sight base can be tightened by cutting a strip of aluminum or aluminum soda can to match the base and inserting them together into the dove tail. You want it to be tight, not sledgehammer tight, but you should definitely need the force of a small hammer and a proper sized punch to tap it in.
