    How i make my caps

You can buy some of the larger syringes that have the needle that unscrews from the body of the syringe, pull the plunger out and fill them up from the back with your wetted priming compound and then reinsert the plunger while pointing the needle upward. If it's a large enough gauge needle, you...

I also just had a realization. My scooper is calibrated for use of the compound without the binder or crushed glass.

    DIY caps

Wet it with rubbing alcohol until it's just pasty and mix the hell out of it. It becomes inert when wetted so you can be quite aggressive mixing it (by hand, no tools.) You'd be surprised how much of a difference it makes when it's thoroughly mixed, especially when wet. And it'll evaporate quite...

A few things here. If you don't weigh the chemicals down to a pretty fine unit of measurement, you can get reliability issues with the ratio of the compound. Also, if you're having the cap protruding enough to cause cylinder binding then you likely are using too much compound in the cap itself...

Bore polishing to help with fouling: it worked!

May sound strange but I use diatomaceous earth on patches around different sized jags that screw onto a cleaning rod (wooden) that I've polished bores with. Mostly on modern firearms but I imagine that it would polish up a BP barrel just as well.

    Scammers.............

ALL of the scam calls come from Calcutta India in a neighborhood called "Sector 5" in the Genesis building. Seriously. They honestly believe that the US is nothing but rich folks that can afford to give a piece of their pie so they don't see it as stealing, or they try to justify it as such...

CVA Vest Pocket Derringer ball diameter question

I use these in mine and they fit perfectly. They are airgun slugs.

Is chain fire more likely from the front end with ball or conical bullet ?

Chain fires happen in the front. I've even had them happen on my NAA cap and ball revolver that doesn't have a recoil shield and it blasted the percussion cap off the adjacent nipple and into my forehead, because it happened at the FRONT (and I found the cap unfired). Flashy, bangy, fiery stuff...

Once you get a system down that works for you, you'll wish that you had done so sooner. The larger caps might also be what you need.

    DIY caps

Awesome! Glad to hear from another person that is enjoying them. And I'm glad that you mentioned the scoop because most people tend to overfill their caps and then the fitment becomes wonky and the caps won't clear particular pistol frames because of how far they stick out due to the excess...

Just do a Google search for "Prime-All." It'll show the compound that you can order.

    12L14 Steel good enough?

Although it's leaded steel for good machinability, it's still pretty strong and will likely work okay but I'd have to research some numbers to say for sure. Some materials might surprise you. I use to do alot of stupid stuff as a kid. That included taking a 8 inch length of 1/2 ID plumbing...

Well, they also don't need to be perfect looking, just torn into individual caps. Hold it with the tamp and cut the flashing.
