White Lightnin' touch hole liner, barrel rust

If I'm going to use 2f then 1/16 if 3f a bit smaller, that way your powder don't roll into the pan. Think your about right on the moisture content, wood does equalize to where it's stored. Ny would be higher then say Az.

    Sight file recommendations

I use a 3 sided safe file, meaning one side has no teeth. Don't know if you can buy them, I just remove the teeth from one side with a belt sander, making sure you keep the file cool. I then work the edge of the dovetail with the sight upside down in a vice, with the safe side on the top of...

Here is What I Love About Muzzleloading

I shot right out my backdoor 50 yd target, up to about 300 if I leave the porch and my tree stand is a 100 yds or so from the porch and believe it or not I live in New Jersey. I do love my home, but wish it wasn't in NJ.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Was referring to the tip, it was squared off with no point. Now that I look at what I wrote it does sound like some type of weird tool.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

My new patch knife. Made this out of an old square nose chopper I found in my barn 25 years ago. All that was left was a square tip blade, half a handle and a couple of loose rusty rivets. 12 1/2 inches, that ought to get those nasty patches cut.:D

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Put a peep on my rifle and that finally did the trick for theses old eyes. 45 yards and touching shots were common. Made it out of a piece of angle iron and soldered it on, no damage to the barrel. Would of posted the target, but I was sighting it in moving and filing the front sight and made...

Does one need to apply oil or ballistol INSIDE the lock?

I remove it every time, brush the fowling off with soapy water, blow it off with compressed air, spray the hole lock with a liberal coat of Barricade, blow off again, oil the rotating parts and lightly grease the sliding parts. If it has a lot of crud inside I spray it off with brake clean...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Golf balls make great file handles, just drill a 1/8 or 3/16 hole in them and tap the file in. They work great and have I think a better feel than a regular handle.

    One side or two

When your lubing a patch with a grease type lube such as mink oil or bore butter. Do you lube just the bore side of the patch or both. I've tried both ways and a have not noticed a difference.

    Sight Placement, Especially Rear

Putting a new barrel together and having old eyes was looking for some advice for rear sight placement and type. Now I use a peep available from TOTW placed in the normal position, should I move this to the breech or maybe try a different sight like a Skinner or something else? Like to have...
