I'm not a serious buyer but I will say that's a good price with the free shipping. I shipped a rifle across the country in a sturdy crate and it cost $142 on Fedex.

    Caddyshack III: Judgement Day

We used carbide and water down the holes and lit it off with a match. Can't buy carbide anywhere that I know of these days. Carbide and water release acetylene.

    DIY cleaning patches

I bought a 100% cotton king size flannel bed sheet at an estate sale for $3:00. Enough cleaning patch material to last for years. There are threads on here about cutting patches with a modified hole saw which is what I use. I made about 300 in a few minutes this afternoon.

    so hard to wait

Back when I got mine it was still legal to buy formaldehyde at a drug store. I wrapped the antlers in rags and then poured the formaldehyde over it all. I put the whole works in 2 or 3 garbage bags and left them in a spare refrigerator for a few weeks. I didn't do the whole skull I just did the...

Too bad you can't get him with that nice velvet rack. I have one I got on opening day, Aug. 1, in 1983 on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska.

    36 caliber deer hunting

Shot placement is always the most important thing. That's why I don't take a head shot unless the animal is still, very close, and I have a good rest. An animal can go a long ways with its jaw shot off. I'm thinking that if a 45 ball is good enough for a clean kill on a 100 lb. deer a 36 caliber...

Personal Care Lubricant for Muzzleloaders-What do you think?

Here's the Artificial Intelligence answer to the question. I've been having fun asking Google questions just to see what kind of wisdom it comes up with. AI Overview Learn more…Opens in new tab You can use a variety of personal lubricants for muzzleloader patches, including: Bear grease...

    36 caliber deer hunting

There are no muzzle loader caliber requirements for javelina in AZ. A magnum rimfire is legal and a 36 caliber round ball can be loaded to beat that by a bunch.

    36 caliber deer hunting

I've thought of that too. I have a couple of .313 molds for a 32-20 that I could paper patch that might work. One of these days I'll try it. I doubt the bullets would be stable in a 48" twist but who knows. Right now I'll concentrate on the multiple round ball loads. My rifle is a true 35...

    36 caliber deer hunting

With skillful stalking and some careful shooting I figure I can do both with one shot.:) I googled what caliber muzzle loader for javelina in AZ and this is the jibberish that AI, Artificial Intelligence came up with: A muzzleloader can be a good choice for hunting javelina in Arizona, and you...

    36 caliber deer hunting

I have a nice light 35 caliber half stock I'm thinking about using for javelina next spring. A big javelina might weigh 50 or 60 lbs on the hoof. I've also shot some double patched ball loads at 25 yards with good enough accuracy for the purpose. 2 1/2" group total with two distinct groups. It...

Great video until the end. Liver and onions sucks! Ugh!

Am I the only one who doesn’t really care for carving on a rifle stock?

Three things I've seen on original carved guns that looked godawful were a woman's face, a squirrel that looked like a ugly buffalo, and a dog that looked some animal I've never seen. Not all of the carving in the Golden Age was good.

It's always been my thought that plain work done well looks much better than fancy work done poorly.

Where to buy PREMIUM QUALITY wood for rifle stocks and pistol grips

I've been buying from Cecil Fredi in Las Vegas, NV. Good people to deal with. He doesn't deal in longrifle length stocks but he has a large selection that will work for halfstocks. You can find about any quality you can want. Nice looking under hammers. https://www.gunstockblanks.com/

    R. H. Ritchey

Does anyone have any knowledge of R.H. Ritchey? I have a friend who has a Hawken rifle he bought in 1982 that has the maker's name engraved on the barrel along with the date 1982. It's a very well made copy of a typical Hawken half stock that he wants to sell. The builder is apparently deceased...

    Any body Remember These?

I have a can around somewhere. They go poof more than they go pop but they've been around for over 50 years in all kinds of changing climates.
