What is it and where'd it come from?

Parts gun. Has a military trigger guard. Post a picture of that part and I can probably tell you what exact part is.

Help Identifying a Pair of Mid 1700s Flintlock Pistols

I will repeat this here. Halbach & Sons used that same side plate and lock style. These styles are considered secondary martial types, and many were privately purchased. They are fairly common and show a great degree in variety of furnishings.

    Old Flintlock Pistol Mystery

There was an American maker that provided martial pistols on contract that used that exact side plate. I’ll look it up later.

    New England Fowler

A not insignificant number of NE fowlers were made from recycled French parts to include locks and even barrels.

    Kibler Brown Bess?

I always amazes me to hear people complain about the weight of a Bess, then say they want a Hawken. It’s a real eye roller.

    Comer's Gunworks

Those Baddely bands can be corrected. We were doing that back in the early 90s. Eric Goldstein has a good book on the Brown Bess with lots of detailed photos both assembled and disassembled.

And on Besses, the lock panels were always thin and...

Where should I Get My Miroku Charleville Defarbed?

From the guy that doesn’t know or couldn’t tell oneway or the other. You are simply trying to be an arse for no reason. And yes the vast majority of Charlevilles are sold to reenactors, and most reenactors are indeed willful farbs. Just simple facts.

Where should I Get My Miroku Charleville Defarbed?

Go to a reenactment and start counting the camping in funny clothing crowd versus that that put effort into it. You’ll find I’m right as usual. Don’t start trying to be a wise*ss.

Where should I Get My Miroku Charleville Defarbed?

    Yeah. Experience. On both parts.

Where should I Get My Miroku Charleville Defarbed?

95% of people buying Charleville repros are reenactors. Then again 95% of them are farbs so……

Where should I Get My Miroku Charleville Defarbed?

Nick, I have seen 2 Charlevilles with a 6 pointed star over a D, both on barrel and lock.
