What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got a couple of big piles of .562s and .595s mixed up when I grabbed a hand full of extras to throw in the bag for a little shoot. Loading um bare ball, with a paper wad on top, took my dumb #*%$ longer than it should to figure out the misses and the horrible fowling. Cleaned and tried some...

What is your preferred brand of #11 percussion caps

RWS 1075 if you can get them, saving my little stash and went 100% flinters and haven't looked back. Wish I would have done it years ago, much happier, and a much better shot because of it.

    A Quick GOEX Update

If your shooting bigger bore muzzleloaders, you can go through a pound in an afternoon pretty easily. Those things are hungry. Good to see some available at a lower price. They may be making room for the next shipment.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Running low on .595s, and .590s, so ran a little ball this afternoon. Just asking, do any of you guys ever have a paranoia about running out of ammo or is it just me?

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got a chance to try out this early style .50 this afternoon. It's part of a group of flinters that I picked up from an estate. I have managed to pass my proclivity for collecting muzzleloaders as an investment in early American art to my soon to be better half. So, far, so good. She may be an...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

UPS dropped off Rob Miller's latest build at the house before lunch today. My boy ask me, what this thing made out of, Styrofoam. My answer was leprechaun wood and pixie dust. It is unbelievably light and sweet. Burned powder a good part of the day. I'm not easily impressed, but, this one put a...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Spent the afternoon with my Isaac Haines problem child. After every conceivable patch and powder combination, polished the bore with scotch bright and giving the barrel a couple of tweaks in the fork of a mesquite tree to get the sights back to the middle of the barrel, it finally began to load...

    Why a smoothbore?

If I want to have a good afternoon, I will take a smoothbore over a rifle anytime. This afternoons fun with my Larry Zorn .62 smoothbore.
