    Simple question…..

Answers: 1. Yes 2. No My experience led me to completely understand how to research. I also always appreciated Masters of a discipline that had “rediscovered” processes and knowledge lost to time. The fact that they were willing to share the knowledge that took the 30+ years of work is...

    Simple question…..

Ok, the ship is sinking fast, and the guy with the inflatable raft doesn’t know how it works and you do. He asks for help and your response is “read the instruction manual.” Crimony, I had college professors like that.

    Flintlock Fowler Restoration

Very cool gun, doubtful about trying to fire that barrel. The protrusion near the breech looks like an overly long vent liner. Lock looks great. Best of luck!

    Punch for stock pins

Jim Kibler sends two drill bits and a drilling jig with his kits. The smaller drill bit (.0515), goes inside the drill jig to spot drill the holes in the barrel lugs. The larger drill (.0635) is used to enlarge the previously smaller spot drilled holes in the barrel lugs. Kibler’s supplied pins...

    Punch for stock pins

I do this also. I also use a hemostat to securely hold the nail (.054) just under the head. The serrated jaws of the hemostat hold the trimmed securely at 90 degrees. Positioning it tight against the barrel pin I lightly tap the nail head. Works great for me.

    Buggered screw purpose?

Exactly! If that screw is truly seized up leave it alone. Attempts to remove a seized one can create problems as big as needing to replace the breech plug. The screw may be boogered but that is far better than you being buggered.

    T/C Hawken ball and patch

Agreed! The depth of the rifling in the T/C Hawken is shallow. If I remember correctly around .005, way too shallow for a .495 to load without a fight or a torn/damaged patch.

    Colonial .54 touch hole

Just one more reason to buy a kit from Jim Kibler. Customer service goes above and beyond.

    Questions on Kibler Rifles

Yes, the Kibler .54 Colonial does have a cheek piece and the 3/16 cast off. I am right handed but left eye dominant and shoot this left handed With no problem. DO wear eye protection though. Fantastic rifle in every way.

Upgrade Jukar kit gun or buy different rifle?

I’m in total agreement with LD. Make sure it is a good shooter first. If not, do not bother proceeding. If you order a replacement lock: 1. Make sure it is returnable if unused/unaltered. 2. When it arrives, match and measure it up to make certain that the sear is in the correct location. If...

    Help me choose a kit?

I was born right handed, write, carve, do intricate repair work, all right handed. Problem is in the right eye. Had amblyopia and the center sharpness in that eye is not good at all. Learned to shoot left handed and it is the “natural” way I pick up and shoulder any long gun. I shoot my Kibler...

    Help me choose a kit?

You Good choice, you will not regret your decision. My Kibler Colonial lock throws sparks like the 4th of July. Best of luck and show photos!

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Let’s see some photos! Did the same to my really early T/C Hawken. Used Track’s Original Oil Finish though in combo with light sanding to fill the pores on the walnut. Photo on mine. Turned out great.

Whaa, Whaa, Whaa whine and cry about the injustice of it all. I say “Let ‘em sniff sulfur and put on their ear muffs and their big boy pants.” Geez, what a bunch of _______(fill in the blank.)
