Now forbidden to send (empty of course) replica powder flask from UK to USA

I feel for ya, my one little brush with "The Royal Mail" left the unmistakable taste of out of control bureaucracy in my mouth. Next time I send something in UK I think I'll have it labeled Nunya. (As in Nunya @#&! business)

    Uberti pock mark in frame

It's a pressure relief vent, it keeps the hydraulic pressure of the Mobile 1 grease being pumped by the hand from slowing your action, custom order feature from Pietta

Seems like it'd work quite well as a sugar dispenser 😉

Now forbidden to send (empty of course) replica powder flask from UK to USA

I think vendors would be wise to avoid any description that mentions connection to weaponry. I was sad because it was an unmarked '70s replica of a Dixon Colt's Navy flask and it's the last think I needed for my '70s Uberti 1861 cased set I'm assembling and the price was fair. These...

Now forbidden to send (empty of course) replica powder flask from UK to USA

FYI Just thought I would post this for those in the US planning to planning to purchase muzzleloading accessories from the UK: Last month I ordered a replica bag flask from a larger antique dealer in the UK. They tried to send it to me via Royal Mail. It sat at the "National Return Centre"...

what is the correct projectile size for a .36 cal colt 1851?

If you can get your hands on a .375" or .380" mold you will be fine. I have both sizes, Lyman cast iron molds and they both measure out at .378" as cast, pure lead. I'd stay away from wheel weights, you want pure lead.

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

Wasn't the Walker 50 grain Max load and Dragoons 40 grains? I'm assuming because he called the .44 and "Army" he meant Dragoon but who knows? It was 1858 so I'm not sure of the terminology

    .36 vs. .44 "Stopping Power"

Since this anecdote was from 1858 the 44 must've been a Colt's Dragoon, which carried twice the powder capacity of the Navy. I wouldn't consider a Remington NMA or Colt 1860 equal to that.

    TAP-O-CAP

Yep they are like magnum primers. Mine sound like a .22 short and give off a white flash when I pop them off to clear out the flash hole

Should I or should I not?

I think a gun that's well loved looks beautiful in all states of wear. Even old mountain rifles with rawhide stock repairs and brazed up broken hammers are beautiful in their own right, showing a life of hardship and adventure. I think this is a different kind of beauty from the pristine but...

Welcome on board! Those PH P58 Enfields are finely made, I'm jealous. Wish me luck, I have a replica powder flask stuck in Royal Mail pergatory as "suspected prohibited goods". Hopefully a postal inspector gets their hands on my package that knows it is harmless, otherwise there will be one...
