I tried twice today and some weird site came on in a foreign language with the picture of some gal scantily clothed. I hit the erase all connection button right away.

    Conicals for revolvers

Everyone has their likes/dislikes but IMO conicals are a PITA to deal with. Tried them a few times in both 36 and 44 caliber Colts. Didn't like conicals due to the PITA tendency of them tipping when loading and inserting into the front of the chambers, nor saw any better accuracy. Round balls...

    Brass frame revolvers

IMO steel frame revolvers look better than brass, are stronger, and for what little extra a steel frame costs over a brass frame of equal model doesn't make sense not to go with steel. Reminds me of a story a tire dealer told me of when a customer (who had the monetary means) chose four cheaper...

Several days ago when trying to go on the ALRF some unrelated site would pop up. Later in the day it was all right. After reading this thread yesterday afternoon, I was good. This morning after several try's I get a 'Opps' at the top of the screen. No worky'!

    IT'S FREE TARGET STAND SEASON

I've been using those wire yard sign rigs for around the last four elections. My wife has a job where she gets alot of advertising material in 2x3 cardboard flats that is perfect cut too the right size and used as a backing to staple targets.

    KIBLER WOODRUNNER TALL SITE

T/W Bree at Kiblers this afternoon. She advised that they possibly plan on offering a higher rear sight for the SMR someday but when customers who inquire about one they refer them to Track of Wolf. Wolf does have a pretty good selection of rear sights of various dimensions and styles. Have...

    Rain down the barrel?

Agree a tiny bit of water/snow down a barrel that has a bit of oil for protection most likely will not hurt much but I don't care to allow any if possible. Hunting in rain/snow having the barrel angled from a vertical position isn't always possible. I've always when leaning a rifle or shotgun no...

    Rain down the barrel?

Ya thought of adding that also to my post above yours, seems the logical thing to do if nothing is available to cover. Have done that in the past doing all kinds of hunting.

    KIBLER WOODRUNNER TALL SITE

Wondering if any of you with a Kibler SMR found putting a taller sight on helped as have the reports on the WoodsRunner and Colonial? I see Kibler has a sight for sale on their website slated for a SMR but believe it the same sight offered with the kit. The taller sights for the other two rifles...

    Rain down the barrel?

Alot of guys I know who served in Vietnam advised they used a condom. While I've never used them, I have used a dark colored balloon that is easy to take off when ya need to shoot, have used a small snack size sandwich bag, a double thickness of handi-wrap with a rubber band around it, even have...

    How do you prime?

Wondering to those of you who load with FF and prime with the same and to those of you who may be in the know; is there a slower ignition time using FF vs FFF. Wondering since FF is courser than FFF and supposedly has a slower burn time than FFF if it affects the ignition of the powder in the...

Opinions on Pietta 1851 Confederate Navy revolver?

Steel vs Brass frame-a long winded subject over the years. Me, myself, and I prefer steel-for looks and strength. There has been alot of discussion over the years between the two metals for a percussion frame. This coming Feb (2025) I'll have been in the cap and ball shooting fun and interest...

How to cut grease notches in a ‘58 Remington cylinder pin?

I use white lithium grease on Remington's and have no problem with cylinder stickiness, galling, hanging up-whatever term ya want to apply. Have shot it up to 3-4 hours at a time, grease in front of the cylinder turns brown is all. I slather as much as possible on it from the get-go. Use the...

    Any body Remember These?

$18 per 1000!!! Back in early 1972 when I got into the percussion shooting I was paying .89 to .99 per hundred, that results in approx $9-10 per 1000. They weren't Dixie, but came in a red plastic container like the metal tins and were manufactured in Italy. My first capper arm was a Euroarms...

    Frizzen Face Texture

👍 Thank ya Phil for the pic, that's similar to what the frizzen on my CVA looks like now with a few less lines. I have a Kibler SMR (still in box to finish) and checked the frizzen looks pretty similar. Once a shooter has taken alot of shots (no idea how many) do ya have to smooth the frizzen up...

    Frizzen Face Texture

Getting close to finishing my first flint lock kit build, an old CVA 45 Kentucky pistol I bought way way back in the late 70's. Be my first go around with shooting a flint firearm. Question is what should be the surface texture on the frizzen. Figure it should have some roughness. The face on...
