The Items of Faith. The Dogma of Muzzleloading.com

English in the United States is merely a base language to be twisted in any way to fit the time or subject presently being discussed. It changes daily. English in school I'd have never passed if it had not been for the literature part of the class. I couldn't tell you the difference between a...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Possibly the nasty pommel is to set the butt of the gun on the ground without damaging the buttstock itself. Just my thought.

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

Got the size 10 and 11 ca makers along with two bags of the powder that they use this morning from the mail carrier. They look interesting and simple to use.

    .36 rifle accuracy at distance

I'm one not much interested in wind drift with the .36 cal. I only shoot the distance from ground to the top of a tree and I doubt if that is much more than sixty or seventy feet and breezes don't seem to bother the ball much. Little and light balls have to be adversly affected.

    1851 trouble

Why won't this 1851 go to half cock and allow the cylinder to turn freely? My original post on this a short time ago seems to have disappeared.

Bad half cock in 1851 .36 cal Pietta made in 2020

I took my 1851 out of the safe to clean and was cycling it for function and when cocked to the half cock to rotate cylinder, the cylinder was locked into the full cock position, would no rotate. Happened on all the way around. What would the probable cause of this malfunction? I know nothing...

I think that if the French or the British had defeated us. or the indians, we probably wouldn't be re- enacting anything looking at the gun laws in those countries. Eastern indian tribes I don;t know about.

    Traditions

ETipp I have the same problem with numb and bumbling fingers and I think I'm going to go the Picanis route and try a ball board. The fingers fore and second are both too numb to safely handle and shoot my revolvers. Can't feel the trigger so I shoot them left handed where the problem isn't...

How you fill your pan makes no difference ...

Most of the misfires I've had with a flintlock have been because of the flint improperly set not the abundance of powder used.

    why no bench stuff?

There just isn't enough interest on this board on that kind of shooting, or guns.

Yeah Smokey, I do live in the Sonoran desert. Forgot about you poor people that live in a water environment.
