    Shots Per Shooting Session?

If I'm practicing before hunting I shoot about 3 shots per session. I treat the shooting day like a hunt. I set up my gong and I randomly pick a spot to shoot from. Normally it's in high brush and grass. I concentrate on making the first shot count. I take the range set the sight and take the...

What caliber is the flattest shooting?

Replying to the op. To get a flat shooting rifle you will need to reduce the bullet weight and increase powder. The other way to shoot to 200 and farther is to increase bullet weight. Then put together a sighting system that is adjustable. I have used adjustable peep sights for many years. I...

    how to pull a ball

People would rather potentially ruin a gun than clean a tiny amount of grease from a barrel. I honestly have quit showing the video because guys don't want to get their fingers messy.

Where do you draw the line?

I guess I have had too many altercations with HC/PC guys. When the topic comes up so do my hackles. Mostly because their rigs were perfect and everyone else was a poser. The guys with perfect camps and rigging often had secrets like coolers in wooden boxes. CPAP machines that they turned on...

Where do you draw the line?

Everyone that knows anything about me knows I'm into muzzleloaders for only one reason, to hunt. I do own a couple of inlines. I'm not going to call them unmentionable. I don't use them for muzzleloader only hunts. I use them for only one hunt, and its a short range weapon hunt. That hunt is...

    45 cal max load?

Actually the 408 recoil isn't that bad with the limb saver recoil pad. With the Cresent plate it was brutal.

    45 cal max load?

My go to rifle for antelope and Deer is my Hot Rod Hawken 45. It shoots a 408 gr paper patched bullet at 1400 fps. I try to stay under 150 yards. I know that load would be lethal at 200 and beyond, the rifle is more than capable. This pronghorn was killed at 150 yards with my 45.

I try to tell guys all the time. If you try a screw and put a hole through the projectile you have made the job hundreds of times harder.

How many use a .50cal for elk?

I have killed 23 head of elk. Big bulls smaller bulls, cows, and a calf. I have shot them with bows, rifles and muzzleloaders. Elk can be incredibly tough. I have tracked elk for miles, and I've dropped them in their tracks. When I'm hunting them with muzzleloaders I use my 50 cal Hot Rod...

    TC Hawken Damaged Screw?

The most important thing is how the tip is made. Look at the picture of the breach plug. The threads go right to the nipple. Most set screws are tapered. That allows the screw to make contact with the nipple, at times.

There is a lot of documentation of Ling ra There is a lot of documentation of long range competition. I'm sorry if you think it's all fake, but it's not. Wind is an issue. In Southern Idaho it almost never stops. I wanted to shoot out to 1/2 mile last year and just never got a chance. I did...
