    Will Lyman 57sml fit this?

If your worried about the curve just make a shim. This one was made out of aluminum. I made it with a file.

    Soft Pure Lead??

When I developed the paper patched Lee 500S&W bullet I started off with pure. They shot pretty well. I got about as far with load development as i could. Next step was to change hardness to increase accuracy. I ended up with a hardness between 6 and 7 BHN. For many years I never found one...

    tyron

There is a Pedersoli Tryon with two barrels. 1 is a 1-16 twist. The other 1-48 twist both are 45's Little ways from me for sale. They want 995 for it.

    Number of firearms

I take two when I go. But I haven't went in a long time. I take a PRB rifle for the trail walk. Sometimes clubs will add a long range target. If that happens 😉

    Paper-Patching, In a Muzzleloader?

From your first post you mentioned brainstorming. I assumed you hadn't seen much about it. I have a video called torture test. I shot my 45 and never cleaned it. I just kept shooting. I was shooting over sticks at verious distances. My thinking was anyone could set up and continually hit a...

    Hook Breech and Patent Breech

There are pages and pages of blown drums. Google it. There is even instances of blown nipples. The fact is. The large bullets increase pressures even with what most would call light powder charges nipples are eroded rather quickly by the increased pressures. Those drums are going to get beat up...

    Hook Breech and Patent Breech

Here is a thread to read right here. https://www.muzzleloadingforum.com/threads/my-powder-drum-blew-out-is-my-barrel-done-for.127738/ Are you planning to shoot conicals with the gun or PRB? that twist is pretty fast for PRB. The best thing to sooth Old"s problems. Just Google blowing out a...

    Hook Breech and Patent Breech

It seems like he is wanting a fast twist rifle. Shooting a fast twist means shooting heavy bullets. I'm giving him advise that I would want to know if I were him. Why plow a pile of money into something that is known to blow out? If he hasn't spent the money yet, NOW is the time to talk...

    Hook Breech and Patent Breech

It's not really a theory. Here is a couple pictures of a Gibbs and a Whitworth. They have "snails" If all you want to shoot is a PRB the drum might work? But I won't stand beside one that's being shot. Heck I might not stand beside it not being shot. You never know.🤣🤣

The bottom one is the Hawken hunter. The top picture is the Missouri River Hawken. If what I'm saying is "hogwash" I would ask that the person that says that. Show me a picture of a long range bullet shooter that uses a drum. Look at what the Gibbs has. Look at what the Whitworth has. I...

    Lyman GPR Cracked Stock

One of my Renegade's cracked in the same place after an accident my son had. No matter how I glued it. No matter how I pinned it. The heavy recoil of the conical bullets kept breaking it at the crack. I finally gave up on that stock.

    Hook Breech and Patent Breech

I would not own one, but I don't like guns with a drum. I have read way to many incidents of the drum blowing out. I shoot big bullets. The increased pressure those big bulls create are not going to help a drum stay in. That rifle is a fast twist for conicals. If it were me I would get the...

    lyman or pedersoli

I personally am not interested in any rifle with a drum. The older Lymans are nice rifles.

How often do you replace the nipple ?

It really depends on what powder you are using. TC hotshot nipples are .034 for the flash hole size. Track of the wolf hotshot are .026 platinum nipples from BACO are .024 or .026, I can't remember off hand. If you are using black powder the .024 is the right size. If you are shooting...
