SOLD - Pending funds New old stock Pedersoli Kodiak double rifle, .58 caliber, unfired

As the title says, this is a brand new Pedersoli Kodiak Mark III double rifle, caliber .58. The 28-inch barrels are rifled with a 1:48 twist to stabilize both round ball and conical. The date code BL indicates this was made in 2011. At that time, Pedersoli still used the double rear sight...

    12L14 Steel good enough?

I believe Bill Moody has passed on, but he made wonderfully accurate barrels -- some with false muzzles -- out of 12L14. The controversy over this steel many years ago makes the more recent kerfuffles over DOM tubing barrels ( often on India-made guns) seem tame -- and equally meaningless.

    12L14 Steel good enough?

It has a wonderful reputation for smooth and easy machining.

Handgonne touch hole & fuse diameters

I see 2mm fuse online, and the outfit (Trigger Cannons) says they ship USPS. I didn't think this was lawful.

    Building A Bellows

I got interested in very early double bellows after falling under the spell of Viking bronze casting. https://bjornthisway.wordpress.com/2019/07/07/viking-age-bellows/

Filing this away. I'll need some before long for the TRS gonne.

    The "backward" powder horn

Rifleman, just trying to duplicate the technology of the handgonne era.

    The "backward" powder horn

Who has made one, and what sort of stopper and or valve system did you apply? It is a bit of a mystery to me after looking at some of the old illustrations posted by Mr. Tromner. The iron-mounted one here obviously begins to look like a spring loaded spout from a much later period.

If you have a Rifle Shoppe .75 hand gonne

Dale, thanks. I just found a Lyman .735 on you-know-what. I have some tow here somewhere for traditional wadding, and ripped a tiller candidate out of a piece of yellow pine to start with. Anyone know the dimensions of the TRS .75 gonne socket?

    Pronunciation of "gonne"

    Just "gun."

    Pronunciation of "gonne"

I've seen some hand gonne videos where the guy pronounces it "gun-ay." Kinda hilarious. Do you say "The Rifle Shop-ay"? The Apothecary Shop-ay? He hath the wind-ay on his guts?" Let us go a-fyshing-ay? The mispronouncers do it tentatively, just in case they are full of wind-ay. 😄

    TKO

I'd be afraid for my chronograph to test the speed, but that big ball is a thumper at 800 fps!

If you have a Rifle Shoppe .75 hand gonne

Can you use a .735 round ball in it, or would it be a better idea to use a .715 mold? I have a few .69 balls on hand, but that's a LOT of windage ...

2nd time at the range with Drachenfeuer

Well I just got off the phone with the lovely lady at The Rifle Shoppe and ordered the steel version. They were out of the brass. She said they ship on Fridays. Fingers crossed she meant this Friday. 😄

FS, you can make a lever from an 18- 20-inch length or round or square 1/4-inch cold-rolled steel, a ball peen hammer, a hard surface like an anvil and a propane torch to heat to red-orange.

Love the Danzig. Very close-up examination of the metallurgy. Knock yourself out, Hackenbüchsers!

This guy really, really wanted a hand gonne

I am impressed by all the hand work he put into it. Apologies if the link has been posted before. https://theliberalgunclub.com/making-a-14th-century-hand-gonne/

Thanks for the advice Dale. In your experience, are the prices on their Web site still current or 14 years out of date? I could run up and knock on their door, but it is 350 miles each way. 😄
