[The Miner '49er]

Just for the heck of it I calculated the Taylor Knock Out factor of the 50gr 3F load that I've been using in my gonne. The 550gr .715 diameter ball is leaving the muzzle at just a bit over 800fps. That gives it a knight in armor busting TKO of 45. I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of that chunk of lead.

Another reason to appreciate Jan Zizka’s genius!

Add on that a handgunner is much cheaper to train and equip than any armored cavalry, the strategic utility of the gun really starts to make sense.

I'd be afraid for my chronograph to test the speed, but that big ball is a thumper at 800 fps!
