    Kibler .36 SMR

    "That truly shines."

    Kibler contacted me!

Fitting! It is a very good photo. It has the appearance of being the work of a professional commercial photographer. Congratulations.

    Just an opinion

My 1860 Army hands down (pun intended) feels and handles better than my 1858 NMA. Both are by Uberti. Oddly enough my heavy and unwieldily but powerful 1847 Walker is the most satisfying of the bunch to shoot. "oooogh, oooogh, oooogh!" Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor

    Source for quality flints ?

I have had better luck getting a higher percentage of good flints from Heritage than from any of the other suppliers I have ordered from.

Which state is the best for ML?

    Preferred Cleaning Patches?

Flannel baby blankets I get for a dollar each at a charity resell shop. The cleaning patches I cut from them have little pink balloons, little blue ponies, yellow stars, etc printed on them. Not period correct but so far no one has called me out on it, or cast aspersions concerning my...

Is There Such a Thing as Too Much Figure in the Wood?

"Too much fun, what's that mean? It's like too much money, there's no such thing It's like a girl too pretty with too much class Being too lucky, a car too fast No matter what they say I've done I ain't never had too much fun" Daryl Singletary "Too Much Fun" Too much figure? That's...

What’s Your Favorite Long Gun that You own.

I like all of them and have grown quite fond of my Kibler SMR .45. However, my definition of favorite would have to be the sole rifle I would retain if forced to rid myself of the others. She would be the first rifle I acquired forty-one years ago and my sole rifle during twenty years time of...

    Coyote Skull

You are so correct there. On my property I find mountain lion tracks in the snow occasionally but I have yet to spot the cats themselves. A somewhat disconcerting thought.

    Coyote Skull

Notchy Bob, your mention of a shunka warakin caught my attention. A creature I had never heard of before. Just this last Spring I sighted a creature that looked very much like a hyena in shape and size, with white and black fur. Its profile was very unmistakable hyena shaped. It is northwestern...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

It has been a good winter day. I spent four hours out in a -7C overcast day running the snowblower to cut a lane down to the forest service road below my cabin, just in case I should have need to go to town anytime soon. Then I thawed out reclining by the wood stove under a four point Hudson Bay...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

They are the tins from CCI and Remington caps that I save after using up the caps. I burn the enamel off of them by placing them on the wood stove I use to heat my cabin. That also imparts a nice patina on the metal in addition to ridding them of their paint. The labels take on the aged...

What Muzzleloading Stuff Did You Do Today?

I made up some antique looking cap tins for use with my various cap and ball revolvers, with labels that I acquired from kh54 on this sight. Now I will have to defarb the revolvers because now they look too new, shine and fancy next to the tins. Does it ever end?

    What are your excuses please.

Do as you please and if you get any gruff about it say "how I spend my money is no one's business but my own." I should disclose that I am not married, so my advice is untested theory. Therefor I offer no guarantees.

    GPR vs Mountain Rifle

Eutycus, The MSRP in the early 1980's was $449.95 USD, adjusted for inflation that would be about $1400.00 today. Price point was likely why Browning had limited success competing with TC, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, etc offerings. It certainly was not because of quality. Browning had all other...
