    Woodsrunner and Colonial

Its all about the individual. Oh no indeed. It is a svelte thing and the length follows with nice proportion IMO. Jim Kibler is one of the best at architecture, flow and proportion that I've ever encountered. He wouldn't let it come to a product if it didn't suit his eye.

    Kibler's Hunting Pouch

I liked that as well. A curved (heat bent) stylus that I made most likely.

Breech chamber question in a flintlock Fowler

Some original fowling guns had barrels with a relieved breech area as well relieved at the muzzle. These were early experiments to control shot patterns before choking was done. Many of the relieved breeches were also "roughened". Is this a modern manufacture barrel? If so, could it be made...

    Woodsrunner and Colonial

I dont know what the OP terms as ideal balance but I like the weight between my hands for hunting and general overall use. That is ideal balance to me. That said I prefer the Colonial model in .58 and the Woodsrunner in .54 to achieve that end. If you are a paper puncher only, dropping in...

    Kibler's Hunting Pouch

Back to the meat of the thread.... Here are two Kibler hunting bag kit prototype bags made by my daughter who had only made a keyring and wallet prior to making these. Of course she had hands on instruction by me (which I do offer in my shop here in VA). The pattern is the same and she made the...

    Kibler's Hunting Pouch

So the suggested Amazon search shows me 105 for comparable leather and I get around 65 for comparable tools and parts on Amazon less the buckle which will need to be had from somewhere other than amazonland for another 6-8 bucks. The leather still needs cutting into all the parts, holes...

    Kibler's Hunting Pouch

I think there are many options for some of the posters who have no interest in the quality kit Kibler is offering. There are plenty of ladies purses in thrift store bins, a couple substandard "kits" out there, high end art offerings from craftsmen, machine sewn bags off the peg, and quality bags...

    Chambers English gentlemans Sporting Rifle

Get a hold of a copy Great British Gunmakers by Neal. Some of these rifles made in the Germanic style even had wooden guards. Also check out the 1740s Turvey rifle in Rifles of Colonial America. The Chambers kit is i think loosely based on this Turvey but I would put it a bit later than the...

    Kibler's Hunting Pouch

I am trying to make the instructions downloadable. By doing so one can print them out if desired without having problems with web browser configuration. The video clips I will be adding are just visuals for some steps of the process and not a step by step tutorial.

    Kibler's Hunting Pouch

Yes it comes with that stitching awl, stitching clamp, linen thread, beeswax, harness needles, dividers and a die forged iron buckle. The straps have already been edged and holes punched. The kit offers two main options of creating a flat sewn or a turned bag. Both have the option of using an...

    Blunderbuss pistol

I think both plates are way to late for GAoP but the pierced one would be the lesser of the two evils

    Finishing A Fowler Build

The Ed Marshall has a dog knot and IIRC Turvey rifle in RCA has some amount of one as well.

Possibles bags and how the straps are attached

Lots of bags were done that way. Most British shotgun shell bags are like that

Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

Were both guns made to exacting dimensions including pitch, all drops, cast, etc?

Fusil de chasse a cheek slapper?

Even if the guns have the same drops and measurements, two people measure differently. Not only do people measure differently, they also hold differently, even if using a prescribed style (Stanbury, Churchill, etc) as their limbs and feature measurements differ. Another physics factor is the...

    Trigger pivot point

Most original birding pieces i have taken apart were pinned 5/8" from the sear bar. Go on ALR and there are a couple of very informative threads on this with input from quite a few knowledgeable people.
