    Nitric Acid Stain

I recommend saving some back as is and trying it as just aqua fortis and water. Also give it a whirl on English and even try black walnut. Here is a sugar maple stock with only an aqua fortis/water mix thats over 20 years old with no neutralization.

This is embossed in repousse. I make my own with hide glue and leather dust. Rubber cement will work or there is a recent import available. Adhesion is not a real concern since you need to back your work.

    Leather Portmanteau Pattern?

Don't create a "lip". Box stitch it like the original Gus pictured. Make your own pattern out of heavy paper and be sure to account for leather thickness in the difference. Your body wrap and lid is based on the size of your sides.

Hi, no mold is used. It's raised from behind with small tools and fine tune tooled from the front. A mixture of hide glue/leather dust goes in the back in recess created to hold its form. This raised embossing is an old technique that can be found on many items including leather covered flasks.

    Fiebings leather dye

Fiebing's LEATHER dye whether regular formula or "pro dye" is alcohol based and alcohol thinned. Not the best choice for staining a rifle stock as its a fader but better than putting minwax stain on a gunstock.

    Bag makers

I think most are individual craftsmen and not online businesses. They are probably not set up to take foreign payments or ship internationally.
