After reading so many posts about ramrods that came apart, I spent the last couple evenings inspecting, drilling and pinning rifle and shotgun ramrods. Now - like all of us I'm sure to meet some muzzleloading gremlins, but they shouldn't involve an unpinned ramrod!

No. I use bismuth shot so I don't have any lead shot. I do have some lead split shot but I don't have any idea how pure it is.

I recently purchased this Pedersoli 12 SXS, and noticed this gap at the muzzle. What do you recommend? Solder? I have a torch and do some soldering, but mostly electrical stuff. I am concerned about destroying the joint if I try to heat the muzzle enough to melt the solder. Drip some in...

Maximum? 1 1/8 oz shot. 90-100 grains fff. I would think 7/8 to 1 oz shot and 70-80 grains fff would be a good load - depending on pattern.

I've still got a couple 50 gallon barrels of "Y2K water" in my back yard.... and besides - what's so bad about Vienna Sausages? :)
