I posted this over on the French and Indian War Forum but I hope its ok here as well for those that don't frequent that one. I posted a question back in 2005 on possibly purchasing the Mark Silver Virginia kit by Chambers. Well I did. Here is some of the story and pics. Back in 2005 john4645 was my original handle on the forum, I just recently got back into the sport full on. I found it when I was looking for some information on Pipe Hawks. Well I would like to update you all. I did purchase the Chambers Virginia shortly after and started to work on it. I cant' remember exactly how far I got but It then sat in my closet for the next 17 years. I moved to Michigan for 5 years in 2013 and then back to Wisconsin in 2018. Last winter I decided to get it completed. Since the time I bought it I stopped working on firearms and building guns and for the last 17 years have been hunting with a Hawken that I built. So I called all the builders that Chambers had on their list and no one had the time to put it together but one, And he did, and he did a fine job. Shoots like a tack driver and it was worth the wait. I got it in May and shot it this summer and hunted with it but did not kill anything.

J. David. If your ever looking for information on pipe hawks, or to commission one - my dear friend Iron John Logan is one of the pre-eminent pipe hawk artist and researchers (that I know of). He is a master blacksmith but dabbles in other arts and works in a bronze foundry, so it seems he always has some neat brass or bronze projects. His go to work is French and Indian war era hawks. Shameless plug - but I am always amazed by the things I learn about historic pipe hawks whenever we chat.

That Va. rifle is absolute eye-candy if ever there was. Beautiful! And I'll add the pipe hawk to that list.
