    Cabela's chaps my hide.

I don't really understand the hate. They carried what you want. They priced it below the competition. They limited how many one shopper can buy at one time in order to serve more of their customers. They were honest and consistent with their policy. If you like it - buy it. If you don't -...

    Now this tops the cake...........

With regard to marriage - I'll leave that up to you long-timers. My lovely wife and I are only on year 42. But as far as self hair-cutting is concerned - it is hard to beat a Flowbee. I started on one when my barber closed down early in the pandemic - and it is fantastic!

    Hunting with a percussion rifle

If I am hunting alone, I carry my percussion rifle capped and half-cocked. If I am not alone, I cap when I am ready to pull the trigger. I carry my caps in a hard rubber capper hanging from my trigger guard and it only takes a couple seconds - but yes, it has cost me a shot or two by not...

    First Flintlock Deer!

Congrats 'Hunter! It took more than a decade for me to get my first ML deer - sometimes it just works out that way. You just never forget those things. I hope its the best tasting venison you've ever eaten!

    Pawn Shop buy

Bad news brother. It starts with one of those. Next thing you know you'll be hiding guns from your wife and arguing with total strangers about the risk/benefits of blowing smoke from your longrifles!

Back up pistol in same caliber?

I like the idea, but be sure to check with your state's regs. In your neighboring state to the north, a muzzleloading pistol must have an eight inch barrel and be capable of shooting 45 grains of black powder "per manufacturer specifications." A hunter can't legally take a "coup de grace" shot...

    Treating a possibles bag?

Hi Sam - Your best bet would be come to the dry side of the state - a whole lost less moisture and better politics too! Setting that aside, as a few have suggested some silicone spray will do a great job on the leather! Good luck and best regards!

    long time black powder hunter

Many years ago I fell while duck hunting, and plugged a shotgun with some mud and ice. I thought I had scraped enough of the ice out - but learned I was wrong when I blew up the end of the barrel. I didn't have another gun - or the means to buy one, so I took a hacksaw to the end of the...

Removing the barrel on a hooked breech rifle for cleaning, yes or no??

I've been taking the barrel off for decades. Not even really sure why I got started doing it - but I think I "learned" from reading the TC owner's manual....

Pietta/Navy arms 12g double barrel load suggestions

The load sounds good - about right for ducks or pheasants, but if so be careful about that lead shot. Not legal for waterfowl anywhere in the states, and depending on your state law, may be illegal for upland birds too. Bismuth is a good substitute. Just top it off with a thin over-shot card...

New Muzzleloader Shooter Hold Over Question

Before you do anything with the gun - do you have the correct sight picture? Are the sights aligned horizontally? Is your target above, or behind the front sight?

    Deer Hide Day 3

I get that - but pretty much everything about this hobby / past-time / way of life is a labor of love. For me it is kind of like grinding my own sausage. Sure, I could drop the carcass off at the game-butcher and for a couple hundred bucks or so pick up a box of steaks and sausage in a week or...
