How fast can BP revolvers be reloaded?

I think you just summed it up for most people. I haven't been in a firefight, and don't want to again, no thank you Sir

    Pietta Sheriff's model 44 caliber

Jake, I have the same gun in a steel frame. Nice gun, good shooter, they just feel good in the hand. My nephew shooting it with a full load of 3f. I too use a cheater pipe.

    Making paper cartridges-my solution

Plainsman, Those are some good looking cartridges too! I need to get on the stick and make some cartridges. I've been making one piece tubes out of hair curler paper and twisting it over the ball. So far It's working pretty good, but I'm not done tinkering yet. Too many irons in the fire.

How fast can BP revolvers be reloaded?

That's a great question. With paper cartridges with round balls in them my Remington and my Pietta 44 cal navy gobble cartridges. With a capper a practiced hand could get under a minute I would imagine

Why I would recommend someone not get into muzzleloading

Iver, check Crater Fireworks in Illinois, a friend and I bought 3000 in March. He had RWS 1075s in stock. I looked, $135/1000. Not cheap, I know, but 1000 caps go a long way. Xlent caps, they claim to replace #10s & #11s, they work fine for me

    Uberti Navy wanted

Taylor's, Dixie, Cimarron, Jedidiah Starr. I'm sure there's more I don't know about. I've had one for years, great gun. I wish you luck finding one.

    Colt Navy 1851 Shoulder Stock

I thought about putting one on my sheriff, I was thinking about a shoulder stock too. But I stuck to my original plan, a Remington revolving carbine. Be sure to show us pictures, you might inspire me to get after it again

Cowpoke, that's a great picture, it looks like fireworks, not black powder! 😃

    Lets see some flintlock pistols!

Stupid phone flipped the pictures. Here they are right side up. Most of us here are too old to stand on our heads to look at those pics, me especially!

    Lets see some flintlock pistols!

Just picked this up at the local black powder shop. 44 caliber. Unknown maker, barrel and lock. Wood/metal fit is better than most. Made a new ramrod, cleaned up the lock, still have to make new sights and fit them. Looks to be unfired, but I'll be correcting that as soon as I get the sights on it.

Let's see how far down the Rabbit Hole this takes me....

Snakebit, Congrats on your new hobby. Navies are great pistols, very closely second only to the 60 armies. Which you will have shortly, the rabbit hole is deep, VERY DEEP! You've gotten great advice here, you're going to love those Slixshots. They make my 60 run like a well oiled sewing...

    Taylors

I've heard this too. I bought an Uberti 60 army last spring from Dixie gunworks. Other than the customary slick up and arbor correction its been a fine revolver. It's become my favorite c&b revolver

    Taylors

Mike, not sure what you mean by 1857, but Taylor's tunes a bunch of their guns, it's an option for certain guns on the website. If they don't offer that on the specific model you can send it to Goon's Gunworks, or one of several other people that offer those services.

    Making paper cartridges-my solution

Blackpowderart, I looked up the Crossen tools, he has some nice tools on his site. I used to enjoy making stuff like that oak and brass one, I may have a future winter project there.

Mushka nailed it. This is why we do what we're passionate about. Says it all

    1851@100.

Knowledge for knowledge sake, Stan. Testing limits. Just like building a car to test a speed theory. Sometimes just proving to yourself it can be done, for your own edification and amusement. Does there really need to be any more reason than that?

You're not alone, I have no reason or desire to be on there, curmudgeon here

    Lets see some flintlock pistols!

Kid, I think that just might be my favorite out of all the fine pistols in this thread. I like the iron mounts and the subtle look to it. It's sleek lines and that beautiful piece of maple say it all. Stunning.
