    The Evil Dremel.

Wow, perfect example of how those things can get out of control. I’m surprised that he didn’t come to you for help sooner.

    The Evil Dremel.

I agree with several previous posts, one planned obsolescence (now called product lifecycle) is a sad reality. Two, Foredom is the only way to go, buy once, cry once. And lastly Foredom or Dremel, either one should be used sparingly. When I was teaching jewelry making I kept my students far...

    Rasps For Gun Making

Really? My heir(s) hopefully will get some use out of them. Or maybe when they auction off all my stuff they might add a few bucks to the take. Personally I never bid on files in an auction...most people don't know how to care for them. If you see them all piled on top of each other in a box...

    Rasps For Gun Making

As I noted in an earlier post in this thread, I too have two new Nicholson's that are made in Mexico. Luckily mine are sharp and cut well but they do load up-clog quickly. I clean them with the wire side of a file card, the brush side does not do much to clean them out. I am very pleased with...

    Rasps For Gun Making

Nice list and photos, thanks! several months ago I purchased some new rasps. I agree that the Nicholson brand has gone down hill since they are now made in mexico. They cut well but clog quickly. I looked at hand cut rasps but I didn’t want to spend that much. Other than the 2 Nicholsons, I...

Anyone else on here ever buy a pedersoli with bad sanding quality on the stock?

Agree that the poor inletting would bother me more than the choppy shaping of the stock in that area. If it bothered me enough, I’d strip the stock, detail that area with a crossing file, sand and refinish the stock. I see that the pores of the wood are not filled. A top quality stock finishing...

WANTED Ruger "Old Army" hammer needed

Would a 3 screw Blackhawk hammer work? There is one for sale on eBay for $39.99 + $5.00 shipping.

    Beware of this "wholesaler"

They are constantly improving their game. I was at my mother’s bank a couple of weeks ago cleaning up the mess that she fell for. The bank employee said, speaking of the scammers, “Its their job.” Sad but true and they are pretty good at it. Interesting that they offered payment by credit card...

Another “good“ reason for the psychopaths to institute CBDC.

    Suggested loads with 777

Just added a pound of 777 to my Powder Valley order and wanted to know what loads I might use in .44 caliber handguns. Mainly for paper punching and plinking. Since it is supposed to pack more punch than Pyrodex and Black I assume you can use less of it. Only got 1 pound of fff. Maybe a waste of...

What to do with left over scraps of wood

Yes, I agree. I have some purple heart where you can actually see white streaks in the grain and I have read that is calcium...that will put a hurtin' on your cutting tools for sure.

    Traditions 1858 Bison

That is not the same revolver. "North Fork's" link is to the same revolver. Dixie price $385. That was the same price I saw at other sites too. Bud's had what appeared to be the lowest price until I saw Battle Hawk's Traditions FR185812 1858 Bison Break Open 44 Cal #11 Percussion 12' 6rd Brass...

I just checked out Dixie and did not see one on there.

    Traditions 1858 Bison

Battle Hawk Armory has them, 12" barrel adjustable sights, brasser, walnut grip. $317.91, $19.99 shipping, no sales tax at least for PA buyers. I know Traditions are made by Pietta and I swore to never buy another Pietta since my last one but this is an interesting handgun at a good price...

Current quality of the Italian makers

search for Phil Coffins post on making a grip for Colt replicas. Excellent write-up with photos. I looked at the grip on my Uberti 3rd model Dragoon and thought "no way" but Phil's 3 piece method makes it eminently doable.

    Scrapers

I do chasing and repousse with sterling silver and pewter. You can purchase chasing tools but they are never the shape you need. I’ve made all of my chasing tools (not complicated tools, one of my instructors referred to them as “cross sections of finger and thumb shapes”. Some are a bit more...

Interesting old axe coming up at local auction

Final winning bid, $60.00. I did not bid on it but I guess it went for a fair price.
