Started work on my matchlock. It comes from Military Heritage without the touch hole drilled. Is it safe to assume that 1/16" is a good starting point just like with flintlocks? Or do I need to go larger? I have a good set of fractional and numbered bits to choose from. Thanks.

Yup, I agree 100%. But I believe it's worth the 'hassle' in the long run.

I'm not sure it really matters that much at all. I use either hot liquid beeswax or a soft (at room temp) floor wax. Apply liberally to both barrel and stock. Assemble rifle/smoothbore and wipe away excess. You just want a water resistant barrier.

I own a lot of Ped's. Yeah sometines QC sucks. I have always emailed Pedersoli and with in a few days they have emailed me back. They WILL fix your problem IF you are DECENT to them in your email.
