The difference in igniting Black powder vs. Pyrodex as a main charge is measured in milliseconds. Barely noticed. Using Black in the Pan is much more efficient than Pyrodex.

When it comes down to Indian Barrels the question can be asked "is the steel used produced to an industry standard" or is it willy nilly as to what is poured out of a industrial sized crucible? I would imagine that Steel produced with a constant crystalline structure would be subject to less...

The only way to determine the barrels structural integrity and it,s failure is metallurgy Forensics. Anything else is just speculation.
