    # 11 Caps available

I live in South West Tennessee near Memphis. I was in the local Walmart this afternoon and they had a good supply of CCI #11 Caps. I suspect most of the Walmarts either have them or will be getting them shortly for you guys that may not have any inventory. Good luck!

    !!!!! Black in Back !!!!!

Well I picked up a couple of pounds of genuine-double rectified-black powder the other day and life is good!!!! I have been watching videos on making your own and fortunately My partner and I are chemical engineers, and we have the necessary equipment in our office/shop to do the job. However ...

    A bit of Nostalgia

Well lately I have been shooting these old CVA #11 caps which I bought at Walmart around 25 years ago . I have 3 cans of them . I think they are CCI caps based on the shape of the can. Interestingly they have been 100% reliable. I stored them in my gun closet in the house all this time. If you...

Wedge Pins falling out on a GPR - Using an Arbor Press to tighten

I know this is an old thread but I finally got my courage up today and put it in the arbor press. I just barely bent it . I mean you can hardly tell it . Boy it is tight now. Probably a little bit too tight but it is such an improvement I am gonna leave it alone. Man I put almost no load on it...

    Favorite Production Guns

I have a Lyman GPR 54 percussion (Investarms) that has been a good shooter and a reliable companion. Best value to get going in muzzloading that I have seen. I expect the new signature guns are even better.

    Bore Butter?

Based on what nhmoose says "Bore Butter" and it's competitors are made of Paraffin and Mineral oil which as far as I can tell are petroleum based products and should be a no-no for black powder applications due to sludge formation upon ignition.

    Problems with "Bore Butter"

For you guys out west and other places it's cold and dry you should know i live in West Tennessee and the humidity is high and we don't have very cold winters. I have noticed that tubes of bore butter get hard when it is down near freezing but I can usually squeeze the tube enough to use the...

    Problems with "Bore Butter"

Ok so I regularly read that somebody on these forums doesn't like "Bore Butter" for some reason or another. What I'm curious about is what is it you don't like . I have used it as a patch lube , conical bullet lube and to wipe the bore down and have had no issues. I don't use it for long term...

How fast is a Hawken ball?

No criticism from me . I'm shooting 110 gr of Graff FFFG in my Lyman GPR 54. Ranges for me would be 30 to 50 yards typically. I might try your loading next time out. Nice job on the build.

    Graff and Sons Black Powder

When I got back into traditional Muzzleloading a few years ago with the purchase of my Lyman GPR 54 one of the things I wanted to do was get away from BP substitutes and go with the real thing. I was also trying to buy a gun that looked as traditional as I could afford . Well I bought Graff's...

Beer Can Busters of the World Unite

Hey I was not suggesting drink and shoot at the same time. There are plenty of beer and cola cans on the roads . Also I recycle the remains and don't send the to the land fill. I should have been more clear. We were just shooting beer cans on Sunday and I've always enjoyed watching them dance...

Beer Can Busters of the World Unite

Well I was out Sunday with the Lyman GPR54 shooting at beer cans off the hood of the truck with the son-in-law and the grandson and I was reminded that beer cans are an invasive species found worldwide. Now I want to know have you asked yourself have I done enough to end the beer can scruuge...

Wedge Pins falling out on a GPR - Using an Arbor Press to tighten

OK my wedge pins keep falling out on my Lyman GPR . The manual suggests you use a 1" pipe and gently tap it on the barrel lug bending it slightly till the pins are tight. I have a 2 ton Arbor press with a 3/4" spherical nose that can be put on the ram . Seems like this would be a good way to do...
