    Lyman GPR

Just an update the guys ; Pecatonica River doesn't have a replacement but they said if I sent my stock up there they could duplicate it . I am probably going to do it after the seasons are over down here . If anybody else is interested let me know. That would allow me to get a maple stock and...

    Which Powder to use?

In the past i used Pyrodex RS with my TC renegade and it shot well but the crud ring was all but impossible to get out of the barrel. About 3 years ago I bought a new Lyman GPR 54 and started using Graff fffg. It shoots well , is very consistent in quality, and Black Powder is much easier to...

    Lyman GPR

Does anybody offer a replacement stock for a GPR. I would like a better piece of wood and I would like to change the lines of the stock slightly. I hate the fish belly.

Pecatonica Classic TN long Rifle Stock and Components

The barrel is straight and I can't remember if it is 13/16" or 7/8" but it does fight tightly into the channel inletted into the stock. It is inletted for a small Siler lock.

Pecatonica Classic TN long Rifle Stock and Components

Back in 1998 I bought all the components necessary to build their rifle . Siler lock percussion, 45 cal green mountain barrel, Bean style TN furniture , screws , trigger . I mean the whole thing. Well at the time I had kids in high school , collage , traveling job and never touched this stuff...

    .530 or .535 round ball

I have had a Lyman GPR (Investarms built). I have shot .535 and .530 balls with different thickness patches . I can get both to shoot well . You just need to experiment . Seems like most people shoot a .530 with a .018 patch. I think that would be a good place to start. You might buy some .015...

    Drum/nipple placement for small Siler...

This is very interesting cause I have the same lock nad a Pecatonica Tenn Rifle stock that I need to do the same thing with. I have all the other parts I just haven't had the guts to start but seeing what you have done gives me encouragement.

    Wedge keys

I have noticed that the wedge pins supplied with my Lyman GPR can pop out pretty easily and are not near as secure as the ones in my TC Renegade. I bought a couple of spares a while back from TOW. I ALSO bought some of there others that were slightly wider and thicker with the intention of...

    Kit Build Lyman GPR

My 54 was a factory produced gun. I have really enjoyed shooting it. I have given some thought to getting a Lyman 54 flint kit. I think a kit built gun could be built to look much more like a Hawkin and yours is very well done.

    Flash Cups

I bought one of these to try on my Lyman GPR. I should have ask this forum if there was any reason not to put one on. Also do they keep the top of the barrel , lock, and stock clean. Any thoughts?

I preparation for the day I dry ball one

Dryball means you seat the ball in the barrel but you forgot to put any powder in . This means you have to extract the ball somehow.

I preparation for the day I dry ball one

Just so you guys know I finally dry balled my GPR LAST week. Pulled the ball with a Track ball pulling fitting on my range rod. Wasn't bad.

    Settled on a load)

By the way I dry-balled one the first time ever when I was zeroing the other day. I have a ball pulling tip from TOW for 54 cal and a TOW range rod. The screw penitrated the ball just fine and I was able to pull the ball out. I also had zerk fittings available for using a grease gun to pump the...

    Settled on a load)

I probably wouldn't shoot past 50 yards cause I am older and struggle seeing the sights. I intentionally worked up a heavy load cause I am more likely to shoot at pigs than deer and they can take a hit. I usually try to shoot the smaller ones but some time the bigger ones are begging for it ...

    Settled on a load)

Well went out Wednesday to adjust the sights in the 54 GPR and settle on a load . Up to this point the gun was giving 4 to 6 inch groups at 50 but the barrel has not had enough rounds through it to be broken in. Well the first group was typical but something happened on group two . I guess it is...

GPR Shooters Unite !!! Huntin Season is here

It got chilly here in Memphis yesterday and all I can think about is getting out with the Lyman GPR and patched round balls. I will be out in a week or two down in south Mississippi hunting wild pigs with the son-in-law . He is infested right now and there are a number of sounders with pigs in...
